| anyone want to swap speedos i just bought a new speedo for my recently rebuilt 2005 rc51. i tried to get it titled through florida, but my title said it has 4500 miles on my bike. the dmv got butt hurt and said i need some special paperwork in order to register it or i can find a speedo with the mileage higher than 4500, gotta love the government. my speedo now has just over 100 miles on it and i would hate to get rid of it but if someone has a speedo with around 4500 miles on it i would be willing to trade strait up for it. i checked ebay but its hard to find a speedo around that mileage. appreciate it guys. |

| Re: anyone want to swap speedos Hmmmm, have you checked any local salvage yards? Maybe check with honda, its a computer so there should be a way to put the correct mileage i would think. |

| Re: anyone want to swap speedos It's just paperwork. Tell them it has 4500 miles on it and be done with it. |

| Re: anyone want to swap speedos Maybe you could hook something up to it (like a drill, switching circuit?) to dial in the exact number of miles. I may be showing my ignorance here, but maybe you could fake the miles.
Or adjust the paperwork. That's probably the easiest. |

| Re: anyone want to swap speedos A Honda dealer can change the milage they do it whenever they put miles to test the bike out before they give it back to you. How much does the new speedo cost. |

| Re: anyone want to swap speedos Well they do it, and infact i think they hope when i sell it back to them they pay low and then change the milage to lower cause they never fill out my book for the oil changes i need one of those things to change it but only dealers got them. Thats why I will always buy new rockets keep it till my extned warranty is done then take that and use the money to refinance a brand new Honda big secondary market its not worth it to buy use when it comes to rockets if you can get financing if your credit is good mine is i think its better to get full coverage under Honda on a new bike. Then no coverage after its been worn in. plus you just dont knwo with dealers they have the power to change it with the machine no record. |

| Re: anyone want to swap speedos How do you _know_ that they do this when they service bikes?
I disagree. In my opinion it's not worth it financially to buy new bikes nowadays. It's much smarter to buy a low-mileage used bike and let somebody else take on the initial depreciation. Extended warranty is not worth having either. |
