Re: Baxley Sport Chock review

Just got my tracking number today. Looks like it will be here Tuesday which like bwhip will be one week from the order date.

I'll have the same issue with regards to the tailgate on the truck. I can close the tailgate with the bike in now. I don't think I'll be able to with the Baxley.

I almost had an incident on the way home from the track last Monday. I was about half way home on I-20 when I hit a wavy section of the road. It's not rough hard edged bumps but a series of waves (I'm not sure how esle to describe it) that really got the truck bouncing. I looked back and noticed the handlebars of the bike starting to turn to one side. I pulled over and loosened everything up, straightened the bike and retied it down. I can't wait to get the chock so I won't have this problem anymore.

It works as well in the garage as it does in the truck, North. You'll love it.

Re: Baxley Sport Chock review

Can someone tell me exactly or as accurately as possible, how much distance
is lost if using this chock in the bed of a pickup? My bike fits in my bed with
a few inches to spare to keep both tires in the bed. I would really like to get one of these but can't afford to lose much bed length.

TIA

Re: Baxley Sport Chock review

I just measured for you...looks like between 3.5 and 4.0 inches lost.

My FZ1 was too long to have the tailgate up during transport but I didn't find it to be that big a deal.

I'm in the same boat. I have about 1 inch to spare when not using the Baxley. I've just accepted that I'll have to keep the tailgate down from here on out.

Re: Baxley Sport Chock review

Thanks for measuring. I don't mind having the tailgate down I just don't want
to have the rear wheel resting on the tailgate. And if I get a Baxley chock my
rear wheel might be. I will have to call them to see what their return policy is. I really like the idea of not having to compress my suspension when hauling my bike.

Re: Baxley Sport Chock review

do you guys use the optional chock mount bolt kit?

just got my stand yesterday and i'm planning on putting the bike in the back of my Ram 1500 (with bed liner)...
instructions say it should be ok w/o the mounting kit... just wanted to confirm.

Re: Baxley Sport Chock review

I would still use tiedowns on the bike, whether or not you bolt the Baxley to the floor. If you don't want to drill through your truck bed, I've heard of folks bolting it to a big piece of plywood. Again, I'd still use tie downs.

Re: Baxley Sport Chock review

I've used mine in the back of my truck without any mounting hardware. works great. no more fiddling with getting the bike off the kickstand and getting it straight up when putting the straps on.

and as HGT was quicker on the draw you do still have to use tie downs either way you go

Re: Baxley Sport Chock review

ya i was gonna use tie downs (front and rear) just wasn't sure if i would need to drill through the bed floor (liner) to install mounting bolts.
