| Will my CBR1000RR fit in my truck bed? I have a 2002 Explorer Sport-Trac, do ya'll think it will fit? If so, what is the best way to get it in the back? I have never had to haul a bike before. I have to drive about 300 miles to pick it up and I was gonna rent a trailer but if I don't have to it will save me some$$$ |

| Re: Will my CBR1000RR fit in my truck bed? The best way is probably a, uh, ramp. And seeing as the shortest beds are 6' (I think) you should be good to go. You can always secure it diagonally, if needed... |

| Re: Will my CBR1000RR fit in my truck bed? My F150 SuperCrew bed is only 5'7" or so. I thought the SportTrac was similar in length.
Either way, it should fit, but the gate may not close. |

Either way, it should fit, but the gate may not close. | A Sport-Trac is built on an Explorer frame, not an Expedition frame.
I just checked the Ford website, and the bed length is 4ft 2in. Hell, you couldn't carry Bacchus laid out flat in the back of that thing unless you put him at an angle!
Rent a trailer! |

Originally Posted by ConqSoft Yeah, I knew that part. But, I was thinking it had a similar length bed. | Well, unless I read the specs wrong on the Ford website, I saw 50" listed as the bed length. It said the box height was 19.7 inches, so that would give your roughly 5'10" with the tailgate down. I just went out in the garage and put a tape to my 600RR, and with 5'10" of space, the contact patch on the rear tire would be very near the outer edge of the dropped tailgate. Too damn far for my comfort. And putting the bike on an angle with that narrow of a bed will make strapping it down very difficult. |

| Re: Will my CBR1000RR fit in my truck bed? Yeah, my XR400 hangs pretty far out on the tailgate of my truck too, but it's not very heavy. |

Rent a trailer! | Very funny! But seriously, I didn't realize that auto manufacturers made trucks with such short beds - that is ridiculous! Glad I have a Toyota!!
edit: spelling...

Thats only on the 4 door "supercrew" models. the regular short bed is more than enough on a full size, and the ranger size short bed is just barely too short for the gate to go up. |

| Re: Will my CBR1000RR fit in my truck bed? Ranger beds fit most sportbikes but the contact patch of the tire is about 4in from the edge of the bed. When I haul one in the bed one in the trailer, I take the gate off and the tire pokes out past the end of the truck. |
