Has anyone with a 954 tied it down by hooking the two triangular engine mounts on either side of the bike (where the frame sliders go)? Or using 'soft hooks' to loop through the mount, then attaching the tie down to them?

Seems this would work.

I use that method all the time on my 929(NinerPilot taught me that trick and I think HondaGal(s) use it, too). I use soft ties around the engine bolts (where sliders attach) and than hook my tiedowns to them. It works great and keeps the load off the clipons like you get when using a Canyon Dancer.

interesting idea. I use only one tiedown per side, but not in that location. I wrap a soft tie around the most forward part of the subframe (I have a rubber thingie covering it so the strap doesn't rub and break). From there, I use a tie down strap and pull forward at a 45 degree angle. The front wheel MUST be in a wheel chock for this method. Rock solid, and doesn't tweek on the forks like conventional methods. This doesn't work on the 954 though, because the subframe is covered with plastic bodywork. Back to the conventional method on that one. Soft ties around the triple tree....

Make sure if you order that you notice the one I posted the link for is for a F2 or F3 as the one for the 929/954 didn't have a picture. Just click on the link and then search for sliders and you should be able to find the ones for the 929/954.

Couldn't get any one via phone or email, so I'll be the guinea pig. *I'm looking forward to a more secure bike during hualing, I've seen my straps loosen up on the Canyon Dancers and the bike would flop back and forth until retightened.

Yea, I'm assuming you thread in the frame slider kit into frame, and then thread the nylon cap into the frame slider. When you want to transport, unscrew slider cap and screw in eye hook. That's the way I took it. Not repeatedly unthreading from the frame, but within the slider itself.

YoYodyne just called, unfortunately she (his wife) didn't know anything technical. Should be here next week.
