Yes, they work fine for me....but I understand there are a lot of folks that don't like them....but that's cool too....

Sorry...don't want to jack your thread....

no, your on topic. I have a CD too...but I was not sure how it would work with the Ohlins damper. I will have to screw around with it and see.

Re: 6X12 and 7X14 pics please.

Not sure how it will work with the Ohlins...I have a Scott's...

I was only hesitant to bring it up because CD's are on the official "thread vortex" list....lots of opinions and anecdotes both pro and con...

Yep, they work with Scotts and Ohlins. I used a CD with each at one point or another...

Yep. But, if you run 8ft of e-track, you're fine. (The 'blade is ~6ft long, so that gives you ~2ft out front for the tie downs.)

you want the trailer load proportioned. Put the ENGINE just for of the axles whatever that relates to in positioning the chocs. TRUE, Etrak gives you that flexiibility.

Re: 6X12 and 7X14 pics please.

On my 6x12, putting the bikes all the way at the back, and gear up front, it was well balanced. Different trailers may have the axles located in different positions, however.

I think the manual for my trailer said that you want 60% of the load in front of the axle, and 40% behind.

thats the GENERAL rule if thumb. you can use a scale to see if you have the correct weight on the tongue.

Been down this road before....

To each his own...I run 4 straps all forward. The rears are just for safety on rough roads, as the front 2 are enough...

Re: 6X12 and 7X14 pics please.

If you use racheting straps on the front, and compress the forks about 50%, you'll be fine. I pulled my XX over 3000 miles (out to the midwest and back) with no problems. (Not to mention all the gap trips flasher and I made.)

My front straps are about 2 feet ahead and to the side of the bars and in front of the plane of the front wheel. On the last trip to AR, I stopped to check my new ratcheting straps on the front @ about 100 miles. THEY WERE LOOSE. So I INCREASED the angle on the rear straps to MORE rearward (1 foot behind the bike, and the front straps held the rest of the 500 miles 100%.

Re: 6X12 and 7X14 pics please.

Just buy a Sport Chock, put it anywhere in your trailer you want and use two tie downs, just snug, on the back - pulling forward. Much better on the forks, and no chance of dropping the bike. Unless you're a moron.

Even with the chock all the way to the front, you still have some forward area. The bars are behind the front wheel.

Why not just buy an R1? It's the pefect bike for towing. Needs no chocks or tie downs. It just stands on its own.

Nope, they are angled well ahead of the forks...
