Re: My Purchase: Nissan Frontier

My frontier came with the factory hitch. I have no idea what the capabilities are? I do not plan on trailering anything so I guess it is no big deal but it would be nice to know what it is capable of.

SE V6. 4x2
I do not know if it is off-road package or not. It does have big tires - 255/65/16. It sits up high and the dealer said something about skid plates installed.

Chances are you have the off road package.... yes they put them on non-4x4 trucks... looks cool.

If you have the 3.3 V-6 and a 2 inch receiver, which if factory I believe that is all they make....

You can tow up to 4,800-5,000 lbs....

No to be realistic, you are probably talking about 3,700 lbs which is plenty for a bike trailer and some toys.

This is what I am looking at information, so do not take me as an expert... make sure you double check before dropping a bobcat on the back of the thing.

And when I say Bobcat, I do not mean the furry type

I have the XE V6 crew Cab Longbed 4X2. Auto 5000lbs, Manual 3500 lbs

I got a reciever from Uhaul. Had to drill 2 holes in the frame to mount it plus remove the bumper. I Installed it in less then an hour.

I had to drill from under it. I used a magnet on a stick to postion the bolt in the frame rail. I'm failing to under stand why so many people had problems installing these. It was easy.

I have no plans of hauling a big trailer anytime soon. The main reason I got it was to carry stuff from the old house to the new house when it is complete. I also wanted to be able to carry the bike if need be. I assumed that the truck was able to do this. It is a short bed but looks like the bike will just fit if the tailgate is left open.

So far, I am enjoying the truck. The engine has planty of power and runs strong. My only complaint is the gas milage. I traded my 03 Civic for this thing. My Civic got 38mpg. I think the truck is getting about 15mpg. This is hurting my wallet.
