Re: Sonoma towing

I've got a 94 GMC Sonoma w/3.4L V6. It's got a hitch ball on the bumper and it states on the bumper 200 lbs. tongue wgt. 2000 lbs. trailer wgt. I know a guy that's got a 6*12 enclosed trailer for sale cheap but want to make sure my truck can handle it before buying. I figure the trailer weighs ~900-1000 lbs. and I'd like to be able to haul 2 bikes and gear, probably another 1000 lbs. Whatta ya think? Will the bumper hitch be enough or would I need a Draw-Tite or such? Thanks!

Re: Sonoma towing

Definitely a hitch. Also, with that size trailer, I think you'll be struggling on any up/downhills

Re: Sonoma towing

Don't you mean 4.3 v6? You'll definately need a hitch.

Re: Sonoma towing

Absolutly a hitch, class 3. You could probaly get by with a class 2, but why, the difference is a few dollars, and its harder to fing ball mounts for class 2. Try hitchweb.com, they had a hitch to me in 2 days.
