| Re: i picked up my trailer today! Sorry to hijack this thread, but I gotta ask Flasher what's inside that trailer? Any tiedowns already there, or do you have to do some, er...remodeling for Uhaul? |

| Re: i picked up my trailer today! hi-jack the thread? *i think that was done earlier .
cc is right. *thats not where i live, but where i work. *its the family farm where i grew up.
maxib,as you can see from this pic the trailer has two tie-down points at the front at floor level. *the sides have these wooden rails with small slots cut behind them that are the perfect size for soft-straps to fit through. *i made a wooden chock to keep my front wheel secure and i think its gonna travel just fine.
i'll know later today as i'm heading to VIR South to watch/help/lend my tent to TraumaOne. *there will be some other ORG members there too. *my trackday isnt until monday on the North Course.
this Uhaul is of the 5x8 variety, btw. |

| Re: i picked up my trailer today! That's sweet! *Doing a little sniffing around, I found this, which also looks good at $14.95/day, but without the security of the enclosed 5x8. *Great for those of us that don't have anywhere to store a trailer.
Edit note: Nice truck, BTW. |

| thanx, oz, i'm loving the Ram.
a note on the trailer ... if you rent a Uhaul BE SURE TO CHECK THE TIRES. *i had a (slow) blow out on the way back from VIR. *i didnt notice a problem with the tire until i had the trailer loaded. *i could see that the driver's side tire was low - it only had ~8lbs of air. *i pumped it up and it was down to ~22lbs by the next morning. *i kept a close eye on it (and kept air in it), but it went down ~ half way home. *a couple of phone calls later and Uhaul had a mechanic on the way with a new wheel/tire. *i'm planning on using a 5x8 for my Jennings trip next month and you can bet i will do a better job of inspecting the tires BEFORE i take it off the lot. |

| Hey Oz,
That's the same trailer I used to take my 'blade to the track day. *It's cheap, tows well, and is easy to up/download (the bike...this isn't computer talk!
I have found two essential products that make my trailering the 'blade very easy, for peace of mind and actually getting the job done. *The following product evaluations are my thoughts and mine alone. *The product recommendation I give has no connection to FireBlades.org, its owner, moderators or list members whatsoever. *Even I deny that I wrote this post.
Okay, with that bs out of the way, I use a Canyon Dancer [this is a must have item if you trailer your bike] along with Ancra tie downs.
Okay, those are the essentials, but I cannot fail to recommend this: *http://www.bike-lift.com/ *[Cut and paste, I am being screamed at by the family who wants to go out to dinner, so I cannot provide a link]
The bike grab wheel chock is the finishing touch for the U-Haul trailer, and it works well at home in the garage too! *John Brown, *eazyrizer1@charter.net was extremely helpful and pleasant to work with regarding my order. *The product does what it is supposed to do. *Yes, it isn't inexpensive, but what it is is quality, ingenuity and tooltime. **(tooltime means it does the intended job well) *This is one of those things that hurt the wallet to buy initially, but lasts a lifetime and pays for itself over and over.
I have no interest in this product other than as a satisfied customer, and I only want to tell my friends about my experience with this product and the people behind it. Something worth consideration. |
