HGTOO, your probably close to the ranger numbers being similar to the tacoma. Here are the Taco numbers:
max weight I can tow per Toyota: Max trailer+gear-us-truck = 7500 lbs
Max trailer weight = 3500 lbs. |
But you have something called TRD available to you |

I also looked at Car-mate trailers, but they are $$ round there parts. |
I bought the Car Mate this time, had a Pace last one. I paid $6500 for 24' w/ stone gaurd, spare tire, interior lights, roof vent and solid receiver & ball. |

I just took the trailer to Florida for Spring Break and pulled an Expedition with 1000 lbs of extra crap installed in it. We averaged 13 MPG pulling with a 2500 HD deisel. My last trailer had over 40K miles in 2 years and I definitely recommend pulling with something far beyond your capacity. Also, if pulling an enclosed trailer get these: http://www.etrailer.com/Merchant2/me...tegory_Code=SC
They make a huge difference in control and stability. I've used 4 lanes of I95 before and heard many horror stories at the race track and car shows. | My last Suburban was a gas 454 with 4.12 gearing. I got 13 mpg without the trailer and 13 mpg with the trailer (20' by 8' dual axle, tall roof, 7100 lbs loaded). I could cruise at 80 all day long (13 mpg) pulling the trailer. This was with a class 3 NON load distributing hitch. With the Suburban's wheelbase, I never needed to use any anti-sway stuff (and I still don't with the 8.5 by 16 and my current 1500 5.3 liter Suburban) for rock solid control and stability. My current ride gets approximately 16 mpg pulling the 8.5 by 16 (5800 lbs.).
Almost forget the cogent point: Curb weight Suburban 1500: 6780 lbs.

?????? Haulmark 6X12
are car mates that much better?

| Re: Trailer pricing SMTB- That pace is the same model I bought used from TAZ. I'll be pulling it with a v6 4runner. I've yet to pull it really loaded up for the track, but all seems well so far. Might look into trailer brakes though. |

The extra 2K pounds makes the stability much better. My motor home (@ 13,890 pounds empty) pulls these "tiny" trailers like they aren't even there. |

| Re: Trailer pricing Trailer Supercenter is a nice website where you can price out all kinds of enclosed trailers, & choose from several packages specifically tailored to motorcycles (lowboy option, chocks, cabinets, D-rings). I've also seen dealer ads in my Cycle Trader that have somewhat better prices, so you can use the site as a guideline, find a local dealer, & try to negotiate a better price. |

I might have found a deal on them...cheap cheap, new. Didn't know how they hold up though. Anyone? |

| Re: Trailer pricing OK I am a bit off of buying, but has anyone seen a Haulmaster Escape? I think a small one with room for two bikes and a place to sleep would be great for weekends to the Dragon ( http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ ) or anywhere in the area. |

Mileage without the trailer runs around 8 and with the trailer around 8.5 (better aerodynamics with the trailer behind). |
