| Re: Just signed up for my 1st track day.... Woo-hoo!
A few more weeks!
Personally, I'd take both bikes. You'd have an absolute blast on the RS50, especially around Loudon...just don't get run over on the front straight. Big bikes like your 954 are almost too much for NHIS but very doable. Toss it into 3rd or 4th gear and leave it there for a while.
Naults is planning on providing lunch and some drinks but you'll probably want to bring some snacks and water with you anyway. Take a camera if you want some pit shots and all that good stuff. A roll of duct tape might come in handy too.
I don't recall if they're requiring that the coolant be replaced with water or not...you might want to check on that. Good tires, good helmet and leathers, unplug your lights and cover em with tape...ummm whatelse? That's about it I think.
See you there! |

| Re: Just signed up for my 1st track day.... I HATE YOU, YOU A**HOLE. How fair is that, you get to hit the track before me. Well I hope you have fun and keep it on two wheels. I'm jealous, I wanna do a track day so bad. You also might want to ask if you need to safety wire your oil drain plug and oil filter. I know most tracks that is a big deal along with the things NHF mentioned. Good luck dude, you better bring someone to take some pics, I know NHF does and they are sweet.

Dano | WOW thats harsh, kinda hurt my feelings a little too.... .... . Yea I PM'd him about pics already and he was quick on the reply (thanks NH, and I will definately pay you a visit that day) and I'm going to talk to Root when I buy a set of leathers off him this weekend or so about what I need to do to my bike. NHF is making me nervous as hell now with this "duct tape" comment
{Edit} Also very nervous about these awfully funny sounding Michelin-Bridgestone-BattleAxe tires on the track.

I think the 954 is a fine bike for the track. Plenty of torque to leave it in 3rd or 4th gear until you get comfortable then you start banging upshifts and downshifts. |

| Re: Just signed up for my 1st track day.... Oh and when you're done your track day, you'll want to buy some rear sets...[coughing]...Satos. Night and day difference in my bike now as far as shifting feel, and traction with my Sidi's, all kinds of traction.

| Re: Just signed up for my 1st track day.... Have a great time and just try to stay relaxed. It can be intimidating at first but once you start having fun you'll be hooked.

Dano | You know what would save some time, is when you order something for your bike just +1 to the quantity....caught the toe of my "professional riding boots" the other day.....yikes! |

| Re: Just signed up for my 1st track day.... Thanks for all the info all, I am very intimidated right now I hope it goes away when my tires hit the track (hopefully thats the only thing that hits) but I have to install a wheel chock on my trailer and get a lot of stuff organized for that day....in fact I'm still waiting on the recall on my bike to be done so I can install the nice Scotts thats under my bed....been staring at it for 3 weeks now. |

| Re: Just signed up for my 1st track day.... This posts made me think back to an inventory list I made for my first couple of trackdays...it's kinda funny now...especially since I don't smoke anymore. For what it's worth, here it is:
Inventory List:
front stand
rear stand
socket set
portable tool box with:
screwdrivers
open/box wrenches
pliers
tape
lube
zip ties
crescent wrenches
Cordless drill with fully charged battery
Excedrine
Earplugs
Stock Honda tool kit
all gear including:
helmet with both visors
jacket
pants
boots
gloves
Rags
Cooler
Wallet
Pager
Cell Phone ! !
3 packs of smokes
2 lighters
Towel for soaking in ice water
On top of this list, I would now add:
Chair
EZ Up
Have fun, relax, and set a realistic goal. For a first trackday, that goal can be as simple as "don't crash". Just remember that...cause if you crash, it sucks. Not just for you, but for everyone. If you don't crash, you get to do it again and have more fun. |

It ruins your day and the guys you ride with. Just pretend its a normal saturday ride but with no deer, no blue hair'd Qtips to run you over...
Bring more water and gas than you think you'll need... Don't forget any gear, bring a chair and some shelter... The rest should be easy... |

| **cough** Uhh I mean for your lights, of course.
You'll be fine. I crashed in the rain the last time I was at NHIS. A few strips of duct tape and I was back in the game.
Re: safety wiring stuff...Double check with Root but they didnt require it the last time. |

| Re: Just signed up for my 1st track day.... I'm a fair weather rider (yet I do WAY more milage than most "hardcore" riders) so I'm not riding if it rains that day I'll still go up there though. I talked to "The parts guy" he said they dont require draining coolant or safety wiring just cover your lights, good tires, good brakes and thats it. |

| Re: Just signed up for my 1st track day.... AHHHHHH yes I see now, a bit further than Loudon is from my house but from looking at those pics seems to be an insane track. You'll have to excuse me for not knowing I never thought I'd ride on a track. |
