| Re: Ouch! another track bug bite. Damn, this is starting to get expensive! I made the mistake of checking out SST's site and ended up signing up for a day. Anyone know how strict they are in tech about the blueing tires thing? My back sportec has about a half inch of blue on the edges, but plenty enough tread for another day or 2. lfg, you know the org. pretty well, what do ya think? Are you going to be an instructor for that day? HG and HG2, are you still gonna be there? Anyone else? |

| Re: Ouch! another track bug bite. You should be OK . . . Montey is more concerned with tread depth than the bluing. If your wear indicators are still there you'll be OK. Of course, to be sure, just send them an email. |

| Re: Ouch! another track bug bite. Yup, we're there for July 14 and 15!! Trackdays are paid for, motel is booked!!! I gotta get some new tires before then.
Woohoo!!! I've never been to Mid-Ohio, but I hear good things about it. I think some of our fellow Reduc members will be there as well, as we have a reciprocal agreement with STT.
ccwilli - if you're in the area, you HAVE to go!! It would be great to see you again. Slowpoke, it'll be awesome to see you again too!!
I wish it would stop raining here already. My Duc is feeling negelected, it hasn't been out on the road in 7 months, unheard of. Bummer. |

Though, if everyone is there for more than one trackday, I'd really like to meet for dinner or something...
Let me know if you guys make up some plans...
I'll be there 7/13 (night) till 7/18 (night)... |

I should be free from work after 5pm, then I can pretty much go wherever... |

| Re: Ouch! another track bug bite. Let me know if you guys do dinner on the 14th or 15th. I live pretty close by and will probably just drive back and forth between home and the track, but I could always do dinner on the 14th or 15th with everyone. I will be at both days (not sure if I will be helping them out or not). Actually there will be a whole group of us up there. Plan on it being a packed couple of days. I figure the advanced sessions will be pretty full due to the AMA amateur races that will be held 2 weeks later.
Edit: FYI, if you take the bike out the night before and swerve back and forth the blueing will wear off. However, Monte is more concerned with tread wear than anything else as someone else stated. The blueing is just an indication that the tire may have overheated a bit, especially in street tires. |

And I wrecked right after LFG passed me.... I dont think it is a coincidence... Have a blast and pin it comming out of thunder valley. It makes for a good wheelie.

| Re: Ouch! another track bug bite. Aw, bummer, ccwilli. We were looking forward to seeing you again. Hmmm. Work canceled??? Now you can do the trackday, right?
I was looking at a track map and I see that the course is run clockwise. How are the turns numbered, and which places are thunder valley, the keyhole, the carousel, etc.?
lfg...will you be instructing? Gotta grab someone to show me around! Can't wait!! Woohoo!! |

| Re: Ouch! another track bug bite. I suggest we do dinner Monday night. That puts it in the middle of the event where nobody is going to be looking to get home afterwards or anything. As for the location, well we might have to work that out later. There isn't much in that area...
If we do dinner Monday then I can change tires that evening as well if you (Honda Gals) need me to.
We will be on the track from around 9am until 4:30 or 5pm, depending on which class you are in. With 3 classes running 20 minutes each, your day could be done as early as 4pm or so depending on how the schedule for the day goes.
I talked to Monte (owner of STT) today and it is still up in the air on what I will be doing. From what he mentioned it sounds like I might be helping out Tuesday but am not sure. He may already have enough help on Monday. Realistically I may not find out until I show up. If I do help out as either an instructor or a control rider then I would be happy to show people around the track. I run a little different line than most probably because I learned the track taking CLASS and reg teaches a slightly different line. I have altered it in places where it needed altering, but I have kept it in place where it really works (like turn 13 which is a blind left hander going slightly uphill).
As for the track layout, I typically run my bike pretty high in the RPMs and before my last gearing change would run the bulk of the track in 2nd gear, hitting 3rd through a couple of the turns. From the front straight you go left through turn 1 which has a blind exit because you are going under a bridge. At the exit of turn 1 is where new traffic enters the track. From there you have a short straight followed by the chicane that m | |
