| My 1st trackday follow up at last Well all in all it was a good day, my goal was to not fall down, mission accomplished! JayRoot did a great job organizing the events for the day everything seemed to go smoothly. NHF provided some amazing photos of the day as most of you have prob. seen by now, I wish I would have known how up close and personal those photos would be I would have worn my NOYFB visor .
Track conditions throughout the day varied, in the morning the track was very wet with puddles in a few of the turns, so I was terrified from the start, but going into turn 11(?) on the 4th guided lap my bike slid out from me almost completely somehow I stayed up, this spooked me for the first half of the day. After returning to the pits I decided it was time to check my tire pressure, I dropped it down to 28/27 and loosened my damper up a tad. My bike felt much better when I hit the track for the next session. All through the morning hours I was getting passed left and right by everything from a Duc 999 to a FZ1 (no offense Chain). After lunch the track had a mist on it which I was told was worse then soaking wet, I didnt notice that since I picked up the pace quite a bit. I think it was the 2nd session after lunch I even started passing people, my bike had such a huge advantage on the back stretch . I even have video footage (that I want to get on my pc from a tape) of me in a pack of 5 coming out of turn 12 heading down the back straight into turn one just absolutely smoking the other 4, tearing away form them inside by the start/finish line.
As far as what I learned....very minimal if anything. Mainly just throttle control, no body postioning or anything, guess I was expecting more of a racing school experience.
Would I go again??? On my 954 street bike HELL NO! I am much too anal about my toys that I couldn't shake the fear of scuffing up my nice shiny bike. On a track bike, such as a ohhh I dont know.....CRF450R Motard....IN A HEARTBEAT!
All in all a good experience, I had fun I met some cool people, such as NHF and Firefly, and most importantly walked away upright and with my bike running and in one piece. Check out some additional pics.... |

| Re: My 1st trackday follow up at last There's a natural spring under 11 and 12 so that's the last spot to dry, typically.
Time for a track bike? |

| Re: My 1st trackday follow up at last Nice pics X. Looks like you were doing just fine to me. Get that damn 450 before you move here so I can try it out when you get here . I'm sure the slide you had put a bit of a damper on the rest of the day. The front end push I had scared the out of me. Most importantly you made it back in one piece(unlike Tony)and had a good time. Can't wait till you come back out here so we can ride again.

| Re: My 1st trackday follow up at last MrX,
Glad you had a fun day. Naults track days are always a blast. Don't give up on your idea of building a supermoto. I rode Jay's last year and now I am riding a YZF (I was the instructor with the yellow YOOHOO leathers on). Jay and I were coming into turn three and sliding the rear wheel, making lots of cool smoke! They are a blast to ride. I left my slicks on and was riding with them in the rain all morning. On the supermoto it was easy to just slide them around and spin them up. I never would have tried that on my old race bike!

Nate | That was quite impressive watching all you instructors tearing it up at lunch time, I paid close attention to you and jay (since I'm obsessed with motard) it looks so fun, yet so different I'd like to try one first but I know thats not possible. I was actually lookin to find a used already set up motard CRF450, if you have any input as to where to look for one or a rough idea on the $$$ of a used one I'm all ears. |
