Desmo @ Putnam - May 30th....

Looks like it's going to be a wet track day...."don't forget to wear your rubbers".....

Anyone else going besides me and MotoPilot?

Did you get some clear weather? How did it go?

It was a much better choice than going to the 500, in any case.

Re: Desmo @ Putnam - May 30th....

Started the day in wet drizzle....usually no problem at Putnam because there is loads of grip. Something was different though, as there was ZERO traction available. The first two sessions were fun and focused but a bit nerve wracking....no lean angle possible. Was really weird....must have been oil on the track or something I dunno.... several slide offs...but no injuries...

There were two guys in the expert group running full wets that were able to make some forward progress, but they both ended up falling.... Normally the track is grippy in the wet, so everyone was a bit caught out with the track condition...

Motopilot was there, stylin with a brand new set of leathers. I was going to post a pic for your enjoyment, but my camera hiccuped and I couldn't get it out....aaarghhh. He also saved a big slide exiting T10....an out of the seat rodeo ride....but we don't think anyone got a pic of that either....
He also instructed me on the proper way to wear my Under Armour shirt. I am such a tard....walked around for two sessions with my shirt on backwards and no one told me....

Made the trek with friend of mine from Roque and his RC, even our SO's made the trip this time. My wife has not attended for a couple of years, so it was good to have her there even if the conditions sucked. Actually I think she only went because she could get a pecan waffle at the Waffle & Steak where we always have breakfast on the way....

By the 3rd session, a dry line was forming and you could get some grip. And in the 4th, you were able to finally get a flow because all corners were pretty dry...lap times were down, but it was awesome to ride the whole track.....

In the early afternoon, they cleared the track because of nearby tornadoes and heavy T-storms. Most everyone bailed....and the storms hit the area pretty hard. I was hoping a hard rain would was the track and bring the grip back, but it didn't happen so we bailed early as well....a few brave souls were still circulating when I left.....

This has been my 3rd wet track day in a row, so I didn't feel I was missing much by heading south....

Looking forward to Barber in a few weeks....and still hoping to make Grattan after that....

Sorry to hear that the contract market is still "the big variable". Are you working in the design/installation side of your biz?

We need to talk, so you have to make it to Grattan!

This contract was both design and installation. Great gig, everything from tooling design to turning wrenches when I felt like it. I was offered a position, but did not accept due to their business plan being a bit shaky imho. Decided to go swimming in the pool with the other misanthropes again....

I am looking forward to Grattan provided work doesn't get in the way...
