| VIR-N, 6/21 - 6/22 with Cornerspeed Got to ride the north course for 2 straight days this week. No rain, low 80s, low humidity...
Had a blast, knocked 12 seconds off my lap time from my last dry trackday there... Ran a 2.02 last time (2.14 in the pouring wet). Got there yesterday, first session and knocked out a 1.57. I jokingly said it'd be cool if I broke into the 1.50s by the end of the day... Well, next session, I ran a 1.54, then next session I ran a 1.53 and a string of 1.54s... Next session I did a 1.52 twice and several 1.53s before I got caught in traffic. Next session I did 3 1.51s and 2 1.52s... My consistency was good I thought and knowing I had 2 sessions to go, I was hoping to get a 1.50, but wasn't gonna be broke up about it if I didn't... I was working on sections of the track i was having problems with and the lower times were just coming as part of the game as I got better in different sections...
next session I ran my 1.50 and 4 (count em) 1.51s... I was excited. I came off the track and parked it... Didn't run the last session because after 2 days, 13 sessions and 257 miles, I was tired and I had met my goal that I didn't think was possible...
22 people in my group and it was awesome. CORNERSPEED, I will be with you again in August...

I was having problems down the hill into 16 and getting a good drive up the hill on the straight... Also having a few issues piecing the 4-6a section together consistently... Any thoughts?
I have some gearing changes in mind and I'll try again. |

| Re: VIR-N, 6/21 - 6/22 with Cornerspeed I tell ya, the biggest difference was being on a "slower" bike than everyone and really trying to out brake people into corners and roll on sooner. I just kept carrying more and more speed around the corners. I had a couple of CR's tell me they thought I was doing a great job keeping up with and passing 600's... It still sucked getting passed on the front straight and then having to work again to get back around... I just hope I can get back out this year...
I don't have too much advice other than I just kept following fast people and trying to follow their lines. The SV makes it easy tho, because it corners very well and you can roll on the throttle very very early without worrying too much about tire spin. I still left some black lines though. |

I followed Paul James (of RRW fame; the Buell racing saga) a little bit in my last race and I felt quite a bit faster for it. The SV is tons of fun on the brakes! |
