| Going to VIR South on 8/29! So this will be my 3rd overall trackday and 2nd on my 600RR. I'm so hooked and psyched about going to VIR South because all of my trackdays have been at Summit Point Jefferson Circuit.
Can anyone who's ridden the VIR South circuit give me some pointers?
Thanks! |

| Re: Going to VIR South on 8/29! don't try to make up time through the oak tree, its a slow corner designed to slow you down, so let it... Turn in for it late for good drive. The apex is on the "straight" side of the turn.
Turn 1-2 area is known as the bitch. It is.
start braking for turn 1 before you see the brake markers (unless they've moved them)... You crest the hill and if you aren't already on the brakes, its gonna be hard to stop and setup for 1...
Oh, the turn 3/4 area, will be blind, off camber and downhill. Make your cut towards the apex before you can even see it. Stay on the gas, don't trailbrake.
Other than that, its a pretty straightforward course. |

| Re: Going to VIR South on 8/29! Watch out for the front end to get a little light coming over the hill in T10 (South Bend). I've seen some nasty headshakes when riders hit the down slope. |

| Re: Going to VIR South on 8/29! Hot diggity dog! I'm soooo psyched! I've been told The Spiral (turns 3,4,5,6) is the closest I'm ever gonna get to something like The CorkScrew from Laguna Seca. Man, from what I've heard VIR South is tough, but is absolutely a blast!
Thanks for the info guys, keep it coming! I need all the help I can get! |

There is a connector at the entrance of T1 for the North and South Course. Just watch out for other riders doing the same |

I will most definitely heed the warnings. I think I will take it easy in the first few sessions to make sure I learn what little my brain can comprehend about the track.
Actually, I haven't seen many "eyeabusers" or 12Rs during NESBA track days. Most ppl ride inline 600's, sv's or 954's. Actually, I haven't seen many liter bikes and if I have, it's the control riders riding them. |

| Re: Going to VIR South on 8/29! you are lucky mr. slow...
When i was on the south course once, a guy with an FZ1 and another on a busa kept going straight towards the north course. The dude on the FZ1 got his act together, they booted the busa guy... I think the CRs pretty much scope out the B group and "watch" the big horsepower bikes cause they know they park it in the corners and stretch the throttle cable on the straights...
And a long straight it is too...
When I say watch out, I don't mean that you'll do it... Just watch out for those A-holes that'll come flying by missing turn one as you're turning in...
Good luck man, VIR is awesome. You'll love it, the track uses the elevation of the land perfectly for challenging corners.
Its my favorite track hands down... |

I will be there on Sunday... breaking in the 636 on the track. Got to get set-up for CCS on the N course Sept 26th

Looking good is half the battle. Now to work on that "fast" thing.
Glad you had a good first ride. I take it Doc made out okay as well. At least he has some more spare brake levers now!!! |

I think the most scary/difficult turn is the fish hook turn because it's a blind turn. Otherwise VIR South is most do-able. I had a blast and didn't even wreck! Took a suggestion from a more experienced VIR South rider and did the whole course in 3rd gear except for the front straight.
I will have to say that there are a bunch of **** knuckles (not excluding myself of course) during that Sunday. There was at least 12 wrecks, but I believe it was around 20 something wrecks that day. Unbelievable, I would think that after the 10th wreck people would realize not to ride outside of their abilities. I'm not saying that I will never wreck at the track, but they could of exercised some type of caution. |

I saw lots of 600rr's, 929's and 954's but no one else with fireblades stickers.
Yeah, there were more than the usual number of crashes. Esp with the good weather we had. |

He made it through ok but had to sit out a session working on the suspension. Never really got it right so now he will have to sort that out... $$$ | | | |
