Anybody Ridden The New Track Near Reno?

Has anybody had a chance to ride the new track near Reno, Nevada?

Apparently Reno-Fernley Raceway, a new 2.4 mile, 15 turn road course is now open for testing and tuning days, and is scheduling events for next year.

It may be another option for us Boiseans - a lot closer than Pahrump.

Look on BARF. Some of them run Reno.

A friend of mine has run it a few times and enjoys it. It's also very affordable. I've got a video of a lap around the track if you want me to send it to you.

Red Spider has a video of it too. AFM I think had considered going there but many people have said it's not a very safe course yet. In light of recent events I believe that will be their top priority if it wasn't already. AFM is up to a 10% crash rate from 5%

Yeah, this is the Red Spider video...I can't find it on their website but do have it on my hard drive.

Watching the video, I'm not sure what would be unsafe except the last turn onto the front straight. There are some poles on the outside and a concrete wall along the straight that should be protected. Otherwise, there's nothing to hit out there except desert. I thought the surface looked "iffy" in the vid but my friend says it's high-grip.

Re: Anybody Ridden The New Track Near Reno?

I went the first weekend it was opened with Keigwins. It was a ball
Very fast track. There are some very good write ups on BARF. ie the track and turns. I am going back Sept 11-12. Apex.

They are working on the runoff. dirt and big rocks. no trees.
Not a lot on ref points.

Plus Sat night they have a stock car track. It's like family night. Reno style.

I had a great time.

Thanks very much to dB for sending me the video! It looks like a fun and fast track!

I've got the video up on my website now if anyone else wants to check it out. Right click and save - it's pretty big: Video Here
