| Tracks in the South East Ok, I live in Kingsport, TN. Which puts me in the northeast tip of the state. As far as tracks go the closest one to me that I know of is Atlanta. Since there are so many people from all over the eastern part of the country in here can someone tell me if there is something closer to me?
I would love it if I had a track within say 150mi(100 would be better). With work and family I can't realistically take the time to goto Atlanta from here more than maybe once a year to do a track day and the expense I just can not justify(well, I can but my wife can't). Someone with more knowledge of where the tracks are please hook me up.
I am about to go crazy looking at track pics and vids. I want so bad to get onto a track and improve my skills in the best environment to do so.
Only damn track I get to around here is only 1/4 mile long.(well, half mile if you include the runoff at the end) and I am bored with it.
thanks

| Re: Tracks in the South East well, that's 200 miles. might be a possibility.....thanks any others?
Edit: VIR has 2 days in July and 1 day in August for sportbike track time. not really much of an option there. Kinda worthless actually. I don't have to work that weekend in July but that is really a limited time track by the looks of their schedule. The layout of the track looks amazing and fun as hell but I don't know if I could do that this year.

You can pretty much ride there just about every weekend with a few exceptions. |

| Re: Tracks in the South East Avoid Nashville like the plauge. It is rough and not worth the drive. Hell I live 10 minutes from the track and I wont ride it. I would say that with ATL, CMP, and VIR, you are close enough to make those happen and they are all decent tracks.

Ok, I was looking at those groups as being times that there would be no way to get in there. I only counted the days they listed as sportbike track time as times I would be able to go. I am guessing these groups are the ones hosting? See I don't know crap about this track stuff yet..
Well, I have emailed VIR to send me info on whatever I will need to know to get setup to go there some time soon. Hell, Now I am going to have to buy a new set of leathers, boots. My wife is gonna be pissed. Wonder if I could sell her to make the money for the leathers....

I am going in hopes of having massive fun and learning track day manners in a more forgiving environment

| Re: Tracks in the South East I am not sure I can put up the cash for Grattan this year. That much distance, hotel, plus the vacation time I would have to take doesn't look good. I promised the family I would save a week to go visit my family up in New York in the summer and I can't cancel that. I have used most of my other week already.. If I hadn't been in that damn wreck back in Feb I wouldn't have a problem with it but I lost my ass on the bike and the gear I had to replace so the play money i had put aside is gone.
Hopefully I can work out at least 1 or 2 days where I can drive to VIR, spend the day riding and then come home and save on hotel and food.
I will probably start putting cash aside in the next month or two and plan on vacation for Grattan next year. I would like to meet alot of these people on here and have some fun learning how to better my skills. I figure the trip would probably run me about 1500 so I will start getting it put up now. |
