Should I remove my bar risers?

Stock Hayabusa clip-ons are actually pretty low, nothing like the tallish VFR riding position you might think of when you consider the busa as a sport-tourer.

I've had a 3/4" Genmar bar riser sandwiched between the split top triple clamp. It provides a little relief for day-in, day-out riding, but I wonder if I'd be better served in removing this for my track days this summer. (Matter of fact, I might be sending my recently ordered Helis back for a refund.)

Input? Think lowering the bars back to stock is the way to go?

(Typical Chain freakout over what I'm currently excited about.)

What, did all that pink finally get to you? Man, you're like a woman with all this waffling.
No need to sell the risers for a couple of track days. They may even make it more enjoyable in your situation.
Just sell the damned bike already and get your motard.

Just an excitable boy! (name that tune?) Don't worry about your risers. If you're comfortable with them than leave them on. The objective at Grattan is to have fun with your bike and get to know it better in a safe setting. You don't have to start changing everything to achieve that.

Re: Should I remove my bar risers?

What RedRider said. You're used to the bike in that configuration, so I'd ride it that way on the track. The objective of trackdays, at least in my mind, is to get to know your bike better and become more proficient on it. If you change stuff, that would seem to make it less familiar, although it's a small change. I'd leave it as is and ride it.

Re: Should I remove my bar risers?

Small stuff like that can be very distracting. I had a set of (pretty expensive) gloves with a stupid internal seam that kept pushing into my thumb. I spent the entire weekend messing with the damn glove and thinking about it during my races. I should have just tossed them and used an old set, but NOOOOOO, damnit! They were the "hot" setup and I was gonna get my moneys worth.

The less you have to think about when on the track (shifting, braking, setting up for the corners, learning the track etc. is enough for most newcomers) the better off you are.
