| Trackoholics at Grattan 4/30 Despite dire forecasts of rain, rain, and more rain, we ended up having a great sunny day for Trackoholics' season opener at Grattan on Saturday. The track was dry, clean, and hot all day. Saw abtech, CBRFVR, Rydman, Trackoholic, and other familiar faces. It felt good to get my track legs back and get the winter cobwebs cleared. As always, Trackoholics put on a fantastic day...can't wait for the next one.

| Re: Trackoholics at Grattan 4/30 What happens to a GSXR1000 when a nasty slapper turns into a high side while coming onto the straight. The rider was ok (see pic above), but the bike was trashed after it flew up the hill and pratically disintegrated upon impact with the armco. It hit so hard that parts rained down in the paddock.

| Re: Trackoholics at Grattan 4/30 Red, you were missed at the second half of the track weekend. About 25 of us went to dinner Saturday night. It was a beer-fueled benchracing fest.
I had a room at the Candlestone, my first visit there. It was clean and very adequate, though they seem to follow the inexpensive-hotel-habit of making sure no one steals the towels ( or uses them to wipe off their bikes) by making them out of some kind of towel-like space age sandpaper. There were two king size beds in the room, and enough room to use a cot, so their modest $55.00 rate for the Fireblades session can be easily split 3 ways, at least.
We ran the track counter clockwise today, and it was a total BLAST! I used the SV for most of the day, because the Pirelli Supercorsa soft compound tires stuck like glue even when cold. I had some pretty interesting 4-6 foot two-wheel slides on the CBR (Diablo corsas and more than twice the HP)during the weekend, but since I'm old and have such slow reactions, I just rode through them. The danger was over before I could react!
Seriously, since Abtech set my suspension this weekend, I think the front of the bike had a much better chance than ever before to do what it was designed to do, and the slides weren't all that scary. I was getting so much more feedback that it was almost overwhelming... but like I said, the bike just dealt with the bumps and my crappy lines, and my confidence grew.
Once you've had a couple of sessions in the CCW direction, you can be very aggressive. It's really a lot of fun, and I hope we get a chance to do it in June.
It was supposed to rain and possibly snow today, but again, it was dry (though chilly)...until 4:48 PM. I was packed up and as I was waiting to leave the track, the skies opened.
Trackoholics runs a great track day, and tends to draw pretty friendly and interesting people. Their no-crashing, no stunting policy probably has a lot to do with that.

HD, the guy sitting on the back of the pickup is the one who totaled his GIX. He was pushing way too hard for the track temps...
