I wanna ride....

A trackday in the worst possible way you can imagine. I attended the trackday this Sunday at Firebird Raceway in Phx. Aside form the 100+ degree temps I had a blast. I was the pit hoe for my friends and even though I didn't ride had a great time. If I didn't want to ride one bad enough, it's twice as bad now. So now I'm trying to find a bike that will see some street duty and some track duty. I won't be racing so I don't think there is a need for anything super duper and brand new. At the same time I don't want some old beat up track bike or the like. I would really like to pick up an 03-04 600RR, but I am pretty open minded to other options. Maybe an 01-03 F4i, or an 01-03 Gixxer 6, and even an R6 in that order. A few guys I know race CCS and said I need to get on the track cause it's so much fun. A good friend of mine rode on Sunday and it was his first trackday. Aside from his lowside oop, he had the best time of his life. We are pretty close in ability and rode in the Super Street class. Would it be more to my benefit if I rode in that same class or in beginner. I'll most likely ride at least one trackday on my 954 to see if I truely enjoy it before I go out and buy a track bike.

Re: I wanna ride....

If you're like most of us, you can never get enough track days! Not sure what group or organization was running your track day, but you should start out in the beginner group first so you can get comfortable with the track and pace. You can always move up when you're ready, but don't rush it. There's usually some good deals on track/race bikes on the WERA board, but your 954 can do double duty if you only want one bike.

I can't wait for next Friday...going to Grattan for a private track day. Only 7 guys are going as of today!

Stuff Bacchus in your glove box and come to Grattan on the 954 in June. Despite the stories you hear from the Michiganders it will not be 100 (might even need a sweatshirt at night)

Re: I wanna ride....

Run away now while you have a standing chance!!!!

As a fellow motorcyclist and self proclaimed friend of yours I advise you to sell all motorized vehicles with two wheels. Track day is an addiction that you will not ever get over. You will end up with the shakes until you do a track day. Then after the track day is over, you start going through withdrawl symptoms of not being on the track. You will end giving blood and selling your first born in order to fund your track addiction.

In all seriousness, I did 1 track day last year on my '02 954. A couple of weeks later I sold the 954, bought a '04 600RR (street and track) and registered for a bunch more track days. Now, I have a '01 F4i that's a dedicated track bike and all I do is think about track days. It has gotten so bad that I DREAM about track days. My most recent dream of being at a track day was LAST NIGHT!!!!

Please mista, I do anything for a track day. Just one more track day, please mista.
