Hell Has Frozen Over (Learning Curves Report)

Yes, that is correct boys, I am an official CCS licensed racer. Why? Why the hell not I say. No totalled truck, no alternator going bad, just great riding and lots of beautiful women.... can't touch though

Where you ask? Glad you did.... Spent the day at Blackhawk Farms Raceway for the Learning Curves Racers training. It was cool...... Rick is a good guy (he said hello Frank, don't ask me what he said).

About Blackhawk, quick track to learn, not like Grattan. It is a lot of fun you have to really do something silly to burn yourself at Blackhawk.

Which Happened Three Times: The best was going in to the last turn from the short straight, this guy that I was faster then the whole session decides he is going to whip out his ZX10R muscle and shoot past me... Well he did not figure out is that I was going to take my bike pretty deep in to the corner. He looks back as he passes to find a whole to get in front of me, missed the turn in and went 300 yards, yes yards off the track in to a swamp. Funny thing, he was the "camera guy" filming us.

We had a 8 lap race at the end.... it was cool. Lots of getting close and some wicked passing. Placed 5th, I must proudly say..... the four that beat me were the two instructors, by the way Brian Mcaughlin (spelling) is wicked fast on an SV650. And the other two were regulars to Blackhawk for track days. I never saw Blackhawk until today.... but fun

During the race....... I had two buddies come along, really nice guys (known since 4 years old) working on confidence..... they were grumbling on the trip home, why? I lapped them

Diablo Corsas AWESOME.... Never will go back to Dunlops again.

It was a great day and well worth it.... It was hot though.

I can tell you a few stories about Rick (and Dave Doe as well) that may be even better than the ones he told you about me . . .

Congrats on the license!

Way to go, DEPO!

A reminder for other would-be track racers that Learning Curves will hold a similar course along with a regular track day at Gingerman on the 30th.

Good job DEPO! Do they still bring the ambulance on the track during the mock race?

Re: Hell Has Frozen Over (Learning Curves Report)

Heavy D, let me check my schedule if you are serious and I get back to you....

Abtech, they were all good things said..... ok maybe one bad, but who can be perfect.

Yeah, we actually had two races......... the mock got red flagged because some "student" augered in the grass and pulled a Aaron Yates and stood on the track looking at the corner workers in the slide area.

That one had the ambulance, which was cool came around it twice.... I guess at one this year a guy ran in to the back of the ambulance.

Then we had a re-grid.... they gave me the pole.... which by the way my hole shot was terrible.... but I was not about to smoke my clutch for a mock race that meant natta.

this time they ran it honest and it was 8 laps a lot of fun.

Yea, I'm serious. There is a good chance the Fasttrax will honor your CCS license. They aren't the most professional series, but it's 75 bucks for a morning of practice, and a 30 minute race. The fields are usually pretty shallow too. Keep in mind that you don't want to crash at Nelson. Not that you want to crash anywhere, but... Fasttrax does leave a little to be desired. Let's just say that they are no "Can Do Crew". The track is in the best condition it's been in in years. No bumpier than Grattan.

If you can come out, let me know and I'll ask Bob if he will honur your license. I'm pretty sure he will.

Nice job Depo! I believe WERA will also honor your license, too. Hello racer discounts...
