| I LOVE TRACKDAYS!!! I returned last night form my first trackday this weekend at Arroyo Seco Raceway in Deming, NM. All I really have to say is WOW! What a great place, and the people that ride there are fantastic as well. My friends fed me excellent advise all weekend and as a result I truely enjoyed the weekend. I did way more then I thought I ever would at my first trackday. My friends were truely surprised at how fast I picked it all up. I just couldn't thank them enough for finally getting my arse on the track. I will post a LONG version of what happened this weekend a little later. If I was to sum it up it go a little something like this.
-Three 2005 R6's are crashed and mangled, two of which were my friends.
-Dragging knee is the coolest feeling I have ever felt on a bike.
-When in doubt use the run-off, thank God for the desert and no guardrails.
-Always check your gas level before you go out on the track.
-10 people can drink over 100 gallons of water in a weekend.

| Re: I LOVE TRACKDAYS!!! The tires held up awesome. I never had a single moment tire wise.
Yes I went off once, missed a downshift coming off the short straight and had a fun trip though the grass.
I did not run out of fuel but my friend did TWICE, on the other side of the track . |

| Re: I LOVE TRACKDAYS!!! First trackday is unbelievable.
Running out of fuel really sucks.
I did it at RA. Luckily a Star instructor was kind enough to give me a ride back to the pits.
The price was steep though, I caught **** the rest of the day from them. (I think they were just pissed I was catching them )

Usually, deciding to go off-track is a guaranteed crash. The bike will do more than you think it can, so your best bet is to try to make the turn.

I do agree with you to a certain degree. As it was my first trackday and I was just starting to trust my tires I chose at the time what I thought to be a better option. Later in the day I made the same mistake again coming into the same corner but was traveling much faster cause I was braking later. I had the same choice again and this time just leaned further and made the corner. I was a bit wide going in, but coming out was nice cause I went up the inside of a guy who was pushing wide on his exit. |

I would agree, going off-track shouldnt be a viable option--creates bad dangerous habits |

Good to hear you had a great time. Did you catch any of the wet weather on Saturday? Firebird East was nice and clear on Sunday.
I'll be out at Arroyo Seco in August with a few PSC guys, are coming out to that trackday? Hope to see you out there! |

It was absolutely awesome. I don't miss my 954 one bit. I don't think I would have been this fast on the 954. The 600 is just so damn easy to ride fast. |
