| Got my racing licence !!!! After waiting almost all summer for the school/exam I finally got my racing licence!
Now I have to decide if I race the 54 or get a 600
I have lot's of fun with the 54 but I would be more competitive with a 600...
Small tracks |

600 races are ultra, ultra competitive. Expensive crashfests. Running the Novice, Inters and Super Club classes for the 600. Just too many bikes.
This side of the pond the Honda Hornet (you call it a 599 I think) is a very successful introduction to racing. Do you have something similar? That's what I'd do. |

if you go with another bike the sv might be a good choice. and that new kawasaki 650 might be nice too. You can run them in other classes (not supersport with all the supersquids) right? |

It's a 600 or open. |

I am really esitant in switching for the 600, I have so much fun on the 954.
I do not plan on being to competitive next year anyway.
Just have fun and try many tracks.
I cannot believe it myself but the track has made me quit the street.
One less squid in the street |

Personally, I would race the 954 because the grids will be much smaller. Unfortunately, its NOT a competitive bike, but sounds like you arent too concerned about it. However, remember you will put 1-2x the purchase price into go fast stuff--so its always best to start with the solid platform--which would mean K5 or newer GSXR1 |

The gixxers are running aorund 153-156 with a pipe. Just seems like it would be alot more cost effective to run what everyone else will be running, use pump gas, and possibly even NO pipe

He does already have the bike so that saves him a little money. |

The rider makes the difference not the bike on those small and bumpy track. Hell, St-Croix is a track for dirt bike.
BTW Congrats on the licence! |

| Re: Got my racing licence !!!! I forgot to mention, I would only need to polish my frame in order to race in the superbike class, where there is no limit in Hp.
I have the front end done on the 54, exhaust line, power commander, lines, yada yada, so she will be the one.
I like that people tell me the 54 isn't the platform, I agree but whant to see what I can get out of her. I have so many milles on her we are connected... |

| Re: Got my racing licence !!!! I will not do it, I am just saying that if I polished the frame I would be moved to the superbike category where there is no HP limit.
modified frame = superbike
more than 115 hp on a 600 or more than 155 hp on an 1000 = superbike
etc... Quote: |
