Take a 110 in the desert way before I will take 95/98 anywhere else. 'Sides, you guys get that white crap on the ground and temps that causes water to change states. That ain't right, ain't right at all.
OBTW you NE guys, see another cold front is pushing through MN right now, bringing the "stuff". Have fun. |

| Re: Trackday in January! I might be at the same trackday next sunday, (Buttonwillow) depending on my budget. Already paid for 2trackdays on the 28th and 29th at Pahrump. It gets tough picking which trackday to spend $$$ on with so many so close to each ohter.
In the mean time. Today is my day off. I think I'm going to ride the Crest. |

Originally Posted by Mojave954 Speak up K9, how was the trackday????? | Sorry, I was spending some quality time with the wife. Ok I was buttering her up, so I could spend the money to fix my 954!
The trackday didn't go as planned. I installed my new to me Brembo master cylinder and boy does it work! I wasn't even really pushing it and was testing the new brake setup. I was maybe around 170 at the end of the straight and grabbed some front brakes. Well, let's just say that stock setup doesn't grab as quick as the Brembo setup!
Anyway back to the story. I was about 170 and just beginning to slow down when I started to put pressure on the brake lever. Holy smokes does this baby ever grab! Next thing I know, the rearend is going lite and the front end tucked. Bam! Down I went while going around 150+!!!
I talked to the guy that was behind me and he said that my 954's rearend lifted off the pavement and then front tucked to the right. He said I flew of the bike to the left front of it and then the bike did a semi-flip (Damaged both sides of the bike).
The 954 slid a good ways before it stopped. In fact my Sato Racing foot peg was ground down to about 1.2 inches in length.
I fell on top of my left arm and it got lodged under me while I was sliding down the track. It took me a while to work my arm out from under me. I must have slid a good 300 ft on my arm under my body, so it took the brunt of the damage. I had to us my left hand to push my upper body up, to get my left arm out from under me while still sliding.
Total damage to me was;
1. Road rash on the left forearm/elbow area. Due to my body weight being on it.
2. Pulled back the fingernails on three fingers of my right hand. Due to trying to get my left arm out from under me, during the slide.
3. Sore muscles and joints on the upper left side of my body and right hip/knee.
Basically, not that bad considering the speed I was going when I went down.
Total damage to the 954;
1. Rearsets toast both sides
2. Clip-on tubes bent both sides
3. Throttle switch/tube assembly smashed
4. Fairing stay bent
5. Race plastics smashed up. Armourbodies held up pretty good.
6. Brembo and stock levers rashed
7. Brembo resevior split in half
8. Dented tank on right side
9. Scott's damper ripped of the mounting. Need new mount, might be able to save the damper.
10. Billet Tech stator cover rashed. It held up fine, but doesn't look pretty anymore.
Overall, the bike faired pretty good. Nothing that a little time and money won't fix!
That's all I can think of right now. Oh yeah, it's hard to type with one hand.

| Re: Trackday in January! Glad to hear you're okay Rick, heel fast, you've got about 3 weeks til the 5th. To everyone else, what Ricky didn't tell you was that the track he was at is surrounded by walls, the one in the PSC video posted in here. Had he been at any other place on the track he would be drinking his food through a tube or checking out early. I'm glad you're okay Rick, sure do need that ride to Grattan |
