Body Position

Do any of you track goers ever find yourself focusing on your riding positon while on the track? My last trackday I can plainly remember myself thinking about it while riding. To the point where I would talk to myself while taking a corner. I think part of it for me is I'm trying to find a position/style that works best for me. One of my biggest things is the fact I corner better to the right than the left and never find a comfy way to get off the bike during left turns. This pic is a position that I find pretty decent for the lefts. Kind of Colin Edwards' like......ok maybe not.

Re: Body Position

Colin Edwards' 6th place 250 style or 10th place superbike style?

Re: Body Position

Put you tits on the tank--to lower your upper body, keep your right arm on the tank (for left turns, arm should be somewhat relaxed, you have a rigid thing going on, you also get better feedback)-- as you get on the gas, coming out of the corner--the lower you keep your head (whilst looking thru the turn)the better --there, you just got $1k of Freddie Spencer for free

Over all looks pretty good

Re: Body Position

I can confirm that the CE 10th place superbike style is slllloooowwwwwwww.

I plan to try TrackHo's advice this summer. If I still have the bike then and am racing this summer. Planning to hang off more by holding onto the bike using my knee through heel of the outside leg. Then get my head and shoulders lower to weight the front wheel more.

Re: Body Position

Yes I have to fight my dirt instincts (getting better at it) and not use the push under method and get the wooly backside off the seat

It's very comfy for me to have my elbows bent like that, guess it's the dirtbike riding that brought that about. I know I need to get lower in the upper body, but I have no tits to put on the tank . You should have seen my pics from my first trackday, I looked like I was riding a 919, all straight and high up in the air. Got some pointers from some racer friends and made a huge improvement by my 2nd day. Now I just need to "finish" things up a bit and work on technique. My last two trackdays all I wanted to do was be smooth with everything. Then I started to think about my body position. Thanks for the free class man . I'll send the check in the mail sometime this week.
