| Phew! Well, I got back on the horse today, so to speak. Brought the RC down to a trackday in Pahrump, Nevada, and had a blast. Definitely rode somewhat tentatively due to learning the new bike, and being determined not to repeat my mishap of last June. By mid-afternoon I was zipping along at a pretty decent pace - at about the same rate of speed as the last time I was here in 2004.
I just had to get this thing out on the track after buying it in December and spending many hours modding and upgrading it for the track. Too cold to ride in Boise, thus the 11 hour drive to the beautiful 70 degree weather here near Vegas.
Wish you were here! |

| Re: Phew! You and I both rode today but you had more fun for sure. I just putzed around the city out of boredom. Reminded me of how much I HATE riding in the city.
I'm hoping to do a NW states loop this summer... maybe we can meet up. |

Oh, and see you in ~48 days. | Yep - the gang's all here, along with a bunch of SoCals. Some really, really fast dudes too!
You'll have to wave to the west - I take Hwy 93 through the middle of nowhere, Nevada. 11 hours of sagebrush. But worth it!
And yes, you will see me in just 48 days - I can't wait. I hope your bike's all ready to go by then! Quote: |

Almost makes me want to head to Nevada | When I bought the RC in December it had some bald Metzelers on it. They had just opened a new Cycle Gear store in our area and they had an unbelievable price on Pilot Powers, so I went with those (as I was almost 100% pleased with them last time). They were really quite good today, very sticky. The next set will probably be Pirelli race-specs which I've been wanting to try.
The RC is really nice. Everybody comments on the great thunderous sound emanating from those Sato carbon cans. It handles amazingly well. The only thing I'm struggling with is the fact that I can't move my giant feet as far back on the pegs as I would like due to my heels hitting the pipes. I wound up scraping my toe several times today which was not what I was looking for. I'm going to try some different positions on the rearsets tomorrow to try to deal with it as it's very distracting.
Other than that issue, I'm really happy with the RC. Loads of power, great handling, and the suspension upgrades are really sweet! Me very happy! |

Of course there are no rearsets on it yet |

Unfortunately, my helmet cam fell off my seat while changing mounting locations during a pit stop yesterday, and it quit working - I sure hope it can be fixed! Quote: |

| Re: Phew! I rode about 5 RCs before I purchased mine and everyone that had high mount pipes was unrideable in my opinion. I spent so much time fooling around trying to get my feet correctly situated on the pegs, I couldn't concentrate on the task at hand. I purchased a standard (low mount) Akro system and I still hit the pipes with my heels, but at least I can get them in the right place.
I think the high pipes offer little to no advantage (and in most cases actually perform worse than the low pipes) and unless you have size 7 feet, they just screw you up. There are exceptions, but the one I rode with the factory Mori pipes was pretty expensive and beyond my budget . . . |

The heels still hit the pipes, but it was really not a problem at all with riding - just those ugly black melted rubber marks I'm getting on the pipes. And the sound those Sato Banzais make is so intoxicating that I'll put up with it for now. |
