My latest trackday video...

Tonight I received the raw video taken by Galen Cook of On-Track Video (nice job, Galen!), at the trackdays I participated in a couple of weeks ago in Pahrump, NV. I combined it with some of the footage I took while there and produced a new little movie that I hope you'll enjoy.

(Right-click and save for best results - it's about 50 MB)

Re: My latest trackday video...

Nice vid. Like the editing. On three try going in a bit deeper before turning in tight to the inside....going in deeper on three helps to not run too wide on the exit as it turns back on ya.. and gives you a better line into the chicane.

Thanks. Yeah, through the weekend I tried all sorts of different lines into three and definitely liked going in wide the best. I also found the exit out of three much wider than I remember from last time - you can take a lot more speed into that corner than you first think.

The one that is a little strange to me is the transition from eight into nine. You take tons of speed into eight off the long straight, but then need to be hard on the brakes while transitioning from a right turn to hard left. Fun, but a bit of a clencher sometimes.

I like the underbike/rear tire view, that was pretty new and also like he throttle hand shot (good editing throwin in a couple of upshifts too).

Yes, a lot more speed can be taken in then one initially thinks...but.... you don't want to be too wide on the exit as it makes a bad transition into the chicane before 4.....kinda f's that section up..which carries into 4, 5, 6, 7... Alot of times if you hold it tighter comming out of 3 you can squirt by the guy going into the chicane.

Yea...that section is the first I've had like that on the tracks around here. Starting to get on the brakes while traveling pretty dang fast leaned way over to the right, progressively getting very hard on them as you quickly get upright and then progressively getting off them as you quickly lay it to the left all as you catch a downshift in there...it is a bit "busy" but fun. It's right near the top for my favorite section of the track.

So did you pay someone to do the recording for you, or do you own all the cameras?

Nice vid.

Nice vid.
Usually my friends and I all video each other, and then swap tapes so we can make the movies, but in this case my buddies didn't make the trip. There was a guy there (Galen from On-Track Video) providing the service of either video of everyone, or private 20 minute sessions. He was a great rider too - didn't seem to have trouble keeping up with anyone on that Gixxer 1000 of his. I had him film me for a few laps, (he's the one following me in the video), and then send me the raw video. Last night when I got his disc, I then spliced in some video I shot from various mounts on my bike (throttle, helmet, rear tire, etc.).

Actually I dropped my good camera on Saturday of the weekend and messed it up, so I had to go to the backup cam on Sunday, where this footage came from. I'm hoping Viosport can repair the good one. It fell off my seat while I was changing mounting locations in the pit area, and then quit working.

Once I get that one going again I'll be able to shoot much better action, from more angles, with some of that good RC51 audio mixed in. Stay tuned as the season progresses...

Thanks! The fellow rider took the shots behind (and alongside of) me. He just had it attached to his helmet, and he rode around to different positions around me. The shots on my throttle/brake, helmet, and under the bike were my own camera in different mounting locations on my bike.

Great video, I would say I like the soundtrack but my mythology professor wouldn't appreciate it during his lecture. looks like a nice, fast flowing track. Great quality footage.

Thanks! Next time you will hear the twin roaring. Unfortunately my microphone wasn't working properly this trip, so I couldn't include the lovely Sato Banzai soundtrack with the head-banging Disturbed accompaniment.
