Made the six hour trek from Idaho down to Reno-Fernley raceway. I've been looking forward to sampling this track for a year or two, especially since they've added miles of new twisty asphalt to it, as you can see from the pic below.
It's now over four miles long, with every kind of twist and turn you can imagine. It also has some really cool elevation changes that add to the fun.
The weather was absolutely spectacular - sunny, high around 80, with a bit of a breeze. Perfect trackday weather.
During the sighting laps, I thought this could be the coolest track ever, and I wondered if I'd ever figure out all of those turns - so many to remember! Unfortunately, once I started attacking the course at speed, I found it to be incredibly bumpy - like no track or road I've ever been on. Pretty ridiculous, actually.
After the first session I immediately started tweaking the suspension. Thank goodness for the Ohlins shock. It immediately felt better, although still really bumpy. A little more adjustment after the next session to both shock and forks helped a little bit more. It's more than a little unsettling when you're braking really hard going into a turn and you can feel the bike bouncing all over the place.
Other than the bumps, the track is really fun. It's certainly not boring, being so long, hilly, and having like 30 turns! There is also a pretty fun banked section that's wild.
Tomorrow I move up to the "A" group for the first time. Today I rode with a buddy in the "B" group, and was scaring the crap out of people when I came up behind them with that nasty RC51 rumble.

I hope I don't get too embarrassed with the fast guys!
Of course I've been shooting lots of video for my next creation. Some of the new camera angles I've been wanting to try just won't work because of the incredible pounding my cam would take with the bumps here. Oh well, I'll do the best I can.
