| My track day at NHIS Well, today was my first track day of the year, and first track day at NHIS. The day started with the usual track walk, our instructor for it was Eric Wood, this track walk was worth the 220$ right there. LOTS of useful information, not just about this particular track but about riding a motorcycle in general. The track walk lasted about 1:30 to 2 hours !!! Eric made it looked like 20 minutes, the only problem was maybe too much information.
Track walk was over by 10:30 am or so, so we where only able to get out for 2 sessions in the morning. Those 2 session where not enough for me to try to apply all the info and get use to ride the bike after being stored 6 months... Also the Arata and PC3 are making such a difference that it felt I was riding a new bike.... Mid range is AWESOME on my bike now .
NHIS is a quite technical track, your always doing something, and there's is a few "intimidating" bumps. Entrance of turn one is hard to see, and I missed it 3 times in the first session. Turn 3 is scary because of the bumps, turn 6 is fun, think of the bowl at Grattan but bigger .
By the end of the afternoon I was getting better, and hitting 80% of the apex. Braking was also improving, but getting back on the throttle was my biggest problem. It was COLD today, I'd say around 45, and I was concerned about traction, especially with the new modification made to the bike.
It was a good day, I learned A LOT and had fun and, plus there was a photographer there Attachment 19257, and I think I'll end up with some nice picture Maybe he will post some
Overall :
The track
Penguin School and Eric Wood
nhfirefighter13 and Firefly

I'd say the most important thing for the day was body position, how to be relax on the bike and work more with the lower part of you body. Most important thing in general was when he showed us on a piece of paper that the apex is not always in the middle of a corner, depending on what's coming after and before.... For me those 2 things helped a lot. |

| Re: My track day at NHIS Nobody told me about this day?!?!!? Or that you guys were in town visiting Thats alright though, I'll just stay in Manch with the rest of the uncool ppl.
Thats cool that you got to do penguin racing school and had fun doing it.
That right hand turn to go up the hill towards the bowl (turn 4 I think) killed me everylap. on the bumps on the track those sent quite a chill up my back when I was there. |

I will come back down for sure, maybe not for a track day but there is still the Mt-Washington annual ride
And that would be turn 3... here's me locking the rear getting into it and going way wide
