| my first track day Just thought I'd let everyone know about my first track day. It was at Grattan with Apex2Apex on June 19. (I see some other people from here were there now). I'll have to say, it was everything I expected and then some. My wife and I arrived, and I got all registered for the Intermediate 2 group and set up our area, and I was soon off for tech inspection. Push my bike under the canopy, and everything is going fine until the guy asks, "whats in the radiator?" F*$^!! I still had antifreeze in there. (I got A2A confused with STT's policy about antifreeze with beginners.) So I get back to my "pit" area, and the call for track walk came across the loud speakers, which is mandatory for beginners. ****!! So I do the track walk thing, and then we had the rider meeting, and then the new rider meeting. So i finally have time to work and flush everything and as soon as i got the belly pan back on, it was "intermedaite group 2, 10 minutes" on the loud speaker. Anyway, I finally got past tech inspection, and did a 7 second stretch routine and I was on my way. First session was just about all third gear, just as the instructors suggested. And be the last session, I was clipping along A.O.K. for a beginner. Like I said before, this was all i expected and then some. I'm glad I did it, because I everytime I roce on the street, I rode like it was a racetrack, and that's obviously not very smart. So now I have a dilemma. Sell my 954 so i can afford more stuff for the 600rr and track days, or turn the 954 into another track bike !! |

| Re: my first track day Congrats on the track day, and best advice is to keep the fast riding there. It is definitely adictive. Have fun and grow into it slowly. For the first year or so you really don't need a lot of stuff for something like the 600rr, just take time and get to the point of confidently using what you have, then decide what you want to do next.
FBO days is next week if you have the itch |

| Re: my first track day woo hooo... another newbie addicted ... I say keep both... keep your 954 for regular street riding and that way your 600rr can be kept trackday ready and you can always swap out your track tires from the 600 to the 954 when they are shot... (that's what I do with my F4i vrs my 929)
see you at the other A2A days...
E.
better mark your calendar for sure for next year Fireblade Days... it's a MUST ATTEND for sure.... (sheep you need to work that thong into the award ceremony hun...) |
