| Take-offs This question has probably come up before, but I searched and didn't find anything, so....
There's a guy coming to the track tomorrow with a truckload of Dunlop AMA take-off slicks for a pretty reasonable price. He says they only have 15-20 laps on them, 1 heat cycle only.
Anyone go this way before?
1 more: A friend at work gave me a rear take-off that he bought from Steve Crevier over a year ago. Only 20 laps on it, but it's old and has been sitting in his garage. There are actually cobwebs inside it. It's a Dunlop 195/70. Big bastard. Is it worth trying out or should it be junked? |

| Re: Take-offs I've had Dunlops last a few seasons with no noticable grip change. But I'm a semi-slow guy on a low powered bike (Hawk GT), so I get good mileage out of tires. Might be worth feeling out and if you don't like it change it then. |

Maybe if I had your money.
I think I'll give it a try. It's not about saving money, more like just a cheap trial of race rubber to see if I like it or not. |

| Re: Take-offs Interested how it will turn out for you Phobe. I have no experience with take-offs myself, but have seen them bite friends in the ass (for street use).
In California, A LOT of guys run them on the street, as the centers are primarily used. I don't, though I have a great source for them at the right price (free), but crashes of friends aside, it's just my personal preference.
Good luck, and report your findings.

good for you. Glad it worked out. These things are a gamble, and IMO if you accept the risk, and progress carfully and slowly you can learn and avoid problems. That's the goal anyway.
