| So I'm driving back from Miller... ...and went four hours north to Rexburg, Idaho, and stayed overnight so I could visit one of our jobsites this morning, before returning to Boise.
Last night I was on some fairly bumpy roads and my trailer was pitching back and forth, sometimes dangerously so, at 80 MPH. Not fun. I figured it was just the bumps as it hadn't happened before, even all the way to Michigan and back.
After leaving the jobsite this morning I noticed my left rear tire on the truck was a little low on pressure, and on closer inspection saw a screw in the tire. So I took it to a local tire store for repair. While I was there I thought I'd do a quick visual inspection on the rest of the tires on truck and trailer.
Take a look at what I saw on the trailer!
Turns out I needed that tire replaced and the one next to it had a 2" bubble on it as well. I'm glad for that screw in the tire, or I might not have found out until I had a big problem on the highway! |

| Re: So I'm driving back from Miller... Wow! Glad you caught that as well. I read that on the local board that one of the other Idaho guys had a trailer tire problem as well.
Not a good weekend for that, but it could have been a whole ton worse. |

| Re: So I'm driving back from Miller... Yikes! Yup, that'll be added to your pre-list check! I check the lugnuts on mine frequently, as they tend to loosen. I get the wheels repacked every other year, too. Not that that has anything to do with your tires! How old were they? I'd better go look at mine! |

| Re: So I'm driving back from Miller... If you get tired of having them packed, go with some Bearing Buddies and just hit them with a grease gun. |

| Re: So I'm driving back from Miller... Good thing you caught it. On the weekend there was a guy going up to Vegas on the 15 that I believe had their trailer with bikes come detached....it wasn't a pretty site according to the news. |

| Re: So I'm driving back from Miller... I repack the bearings before any trip thats over 500miles. Or once a year. Once you have a bearing fail you in the middle of no where you would do it too. Its not fun. The whole wheel can come off if you don't catch it in time. You will hear a loud squeling usually.
Also what up with trailer tires just separating from the tread. I have never seen car tires do it but many trailer tires. |

| Re: So I'm driving back from Miller... long trips always check tires, wheels, brakes/suspension and double check the hookup. pretend its a cdl vehicle and do a good pretrip inspection.
glad you found that before something bad happened.
