| Another Miller Labor Day Video Excerpt... Wanna see a fast pass? Check this out. I'm feeling pretty good, heading for the Attitudes (or corkscrew), gaining on the rider in front of me in an A group afternoon session. Just about to the third corner of the 'screw, when dude comes FLYING by me on the left. Watch how far ahead he is by the time I exit Tooele turn.

| Re: Another Miller Labor Day Video Excerpt... Actually, that was Shane Turpin, who is the king of Utah on the track, an accomplished AMA racer, and sometime Freddie Spencer school instructor.
Sometimes when people make close passes on me that are bonehead, I get ticked off. But I remember on that one I was thinking, "Nice! I'm impressed!" |

During an eight hour endurance a few years back, I was dicing with 3 other "Grattanites" who were pretty good riders. Every lap we were reading each others approaches/strengths/weaknesses and I was able to get by two of them, but was having a fit trying to get by the last one in the "group". I ran what I considered 2 of my best laps and decided to ignore the fact this guy was in front of me and was finally poised to outbrake him into the hairpin and head for the next group. About 3/4s of way around this guy, a white and blue Suzuki goes around the outside like we were both parked and proceeds to wheelie all the way up the hill into ten. It was Michael Martin on the Team Suzuki Endurance 1100. When I made the final left turn onto the straight, he was already setting up for turn one .
Something about the big assed "number 1" on the bike told me not to get too excited . . . |
