| 929 trackday bike? Who has, or has had a 929 as a track only bike?
Trying to decide if I should keep the 929 and make it a track only, or at least mostly, bike. Or maybe proceed on with selling it and get a 600 or rc-51 that might be track ready.
Any help would be appreciated, and might cut down on the amount of time I spend in the religious and political forums... |

| Re: 929 trackday bike? Depends. Do you still want a street bike? If so and your budget allows it, keep the 929 for the street and get a 600 for the track.
I've ridden my 929 on both street and track for the past 5 years. I like it on the track well enough, but I think I'd enjoy a 600 more. |

| Re: 929 trackday bike? My latest plan seems to be to get a sport/tour bike for the street (yam fjr1300 or honda st1300 i think). And either set up the 929 for the track, or sell it to make way for a different track bike. |

| Re: 929 trackday bike? I have had a 929 trackbike. The bike worked great and always rode very strong. That being said, I would sell it for a 600 or RC. I weigh 130lbs and it was a bit much for me to move around. After getting a 600 I realize that they are much easier to ride fast then the 929, but this is only my opinion. You will find plenty of others around here who may disagree with me. I say sell it, but it is ultimately what you are looking to do with it. |

| Re: 929 trackday bike? A 929 is definitely fun on the track and has worked well for me. Had there been the type of 600's available 5 years ago like there are today, I would've gone with the smaller bike for the track.

| Re: 929 trackday bike? If it will be a track only I would go for the 600, for two reasons. One as stated before the 600 is just a sweet machine on the track and two is tou can find a track ready 600 for less $ that you could get the 929 ready for track use. |

| Re: 929 trackday bike? Thanks for the ideas folks!
I think I am leaning toward the sell the 929 and get a 600 track bike.
My son and I finaly got a chance to go out on our bikes today and ride some "interesting" roads. It really helped my with my decision!
The problem we have in this area is that there are NO twisty roads!
I few tight turns here and there, but in residential areas, can't play there.
Today we took Kings Highway from Port Charlotte to Arcadia. This is a really nice cruiser style road (lots of large, open curves, runs through pastures and orange groves), some sportbikers ride it early Sunday mornings.
The problem with it is that if this same road was a racetrack it would be all top 3 gear stuff. This means to make things "interesting" on a modern sportbike, I would be moving WAY too fast for public roads! I could have easily done todays' trip on a sport/tour bike, and been more comfortable, and gone a similar pace! I probably could have done it on the Valk, too, but that would have been interesting in a different way!
I think for where I live now, I am going to have to concentrate on trackdays. |

We (wife and I) are planning on doing the refresher/recert on his 9 FEB date at TalledegaGPR. |

| Re: 929 trackday bike? Thanks seamus!
I have checked his school out on the JenningGP link, I really think I will do it.
Probably can't make Nov, but I will shoot for the Dec date!
Have a bunch of stuff to get first, though!
Helmet, boots, leathers, probably much more...
Christmas is coming, but I don't think I have been THAT good! |
