| Track Days in the North East I am planning as many track days as I can for next year but I dont know of many tracks that are close to NY. Can anyone reccomend track days or just tracks that are in the Northeastern part of the country. Prefereably between Maryland and Maine. I plan on going to the Suzuki school in Atlanta but since that is fairly expense that is not something I will be doing more than a few times for the year. Thanks in advance. |

| Re: Track Days in the North East The three main trackday providers in the northeast are: Sportbike Track Time - Get on the right track !! Toll Free #888-390-4020 www.teampromotion.com NESBA.com - Sportbike Track Day Organization
Another club also has mid-week days at Pocono: NYsportbike club: Untitled Document
The tracks in our area are Pocono Raceway (which sucks), Long Pond, PA
Summit Point, West VA (the main course is great, the small Jefferson Circuit sucks, and the new Shannandoah course you won't get me near because there's too many walls)
BeaveRun, by Pittsburgh, PA. Nice course
VIR. Excellent course, in VA, at least 10 hours from our area
New Hampshire International Speedway, Loudon, NH
Mid-Ohio
Check the above websites, they'll all have their 2007 schedules out around the beginning of the year. I mostly ride with sportbiketracktime.
Holler if you have anymore questions. |

| Re: Track Days in the North East On that trackpedia website, there's a lot of tracks listed that no one runs motorcycle days at. Limerock, the ones in NJ, just to name a couple. The one in NJ, Thunderbolt, will, but they haven't even broken ground yet. |

They have numerous track days at NHIS (Loudon,NH) as well as a few other tracks.
Very well run - and they are the only track day provider that has rain insurance included in the price.
They also have professional photography and videography! Instead of offering just pictures, they follow (or lead you) and have on-board video they take of you that you can purchase of yourself.
Awesome track days! |

Have you been any trackdays before?
I know alot of locals NYers use team promotion because they have the most Pocono dates, which is our closest track. They have a guy that does suspension set ups for a fee. I will be venturing out with STT and a race school (ksss?) and if I am good this year Santa may let me sneak off to Grattan.
Pocono isnt the greatest track but its good to get your feet wet.
Loudon and Summit I believe are the next closest options.
After that is VIR, Beaverun and Calboogie in Canada.
I signed up with teampromotion to whore myself out as a track worker at Pocono, which pays for my other track days further away.
Keep me posted, we'll probably end up at the same events.

I've never been to Pocono, but I know that Loudon track days are great,
and I know Team Pro-motion puts on a good one, but they are also a crash-fest with so many riders.
LAPS puts on a great one as well, with limited riders (no traffic), and even stunt shows during lunch.
If you're tired of Pocono, come on up to Loudon, it's not much farther, and I'm sure and your friends will have a great time.........
..and I think they still do the promotion if you bring 5 paying riders with you then you're free - but you may want to email them and make sure.
Good Luck! |

Good Luck! | thanks for the info. Do you have a website for these guys?
I plan on getting to Loudon also, but my parents live 15 minutes away from Pocono and I live about an 1 1/2hr .... hard to beat that as far as distance but after I saw VIR and Beaverun I hated Pocono.
that 5 riders, 6th free sounds cool (breaks down to about $30-40 off/person)

-jh | So you'll be riding with STT this year, not TPM? If so, I may catch you at some STT events, although I probably won't ride Pocono at all this year. Maybe FUSA in August, but the east course, as close as it is, just isn't enjoyable to me anymore. Over the past 10 years I've watched the pavement turn into something more appropriate for off-road bikes. It sucks and they refuse to do anything about it, as Pocono hates motorcycles. |

I've never ridden with STT but I've heard only good things.
Pocono is close enough to get my "fix" in between trips to better tracks and you're right about the surface condition. The west course was more fun to me, but I probably wont sign up for anything but FUSA this year, just to say I've done it.
Thanks for the link Marbo. I definetely be looking into it and I'll keep you posted!

| Re: Track Days in the North East FUSA is ...ok.. They fixed some of the surface, but some spots are pretty rough on it, too. Also, don't run off because you will hit a ditch or fence.
Sometimes FUSA is fun, and sometimes it's a crashfest no matter which org you're there with.
I never did the "west" or "north" course. They seem to be a TPM thing. The west course is just the east course run backwards? The club I used to ride with didn't consider that, or the north course, safe. |

| Re: Track Days in the North East There is definetely alot of spots on Pocono that can bite you if you run off. TPM uses airbags but a buddy of mine still took a helicopter ride after low siding into the airfence on the East course.
West is east backwards... but it seemed so much more fun (I can actually manage the "bus stop" better as a left turn) and it was empty for me so there were less problems.
North is boring to me because they spend too much time on that Nascar section.
I've worked FUSA as a corner worker many times but have never ridden it, you're right, it seems to draw every liter bike in the area and can become a crashfest easily.

| Re: Track Days in the North East The thing about running the east course backwards is that when you go onto the nascar oval (back straight), you're heading right for the wall. In the "normal" direction, the angle is different, and better. |
