| Re: crashed at my first track day First of all, thanks for all the replies to my other thread. Race school/track day was by far the most fun I've ever had on two wheels. I learned a ton from the instructor, got to trash a perfectly good set of tires, and road test my leather. About two hours into the day, I low sided. Torn some stitching out of my leather, scratched the clutch cover, rashed the lower, and the exhaust. I can't wait to do it again!!! |

| Re: crashed at my first track day Sounds to me like you had an excellent time, although your bike may think otherwise.
Now, go get your suit stitched up and ready for your next track day. |

| Re: crashed at my first track day Sounds like a good time, except for the fall. At least you earned some intimidation credits with your scuffed up leathers. |

| Re: crashed at my first track day Thanks everyone I'm a little sore, but ok. I'm not going to change anything on the bike, as the damage is all cosmetic.
BTW, if anyone ever gets the chance to ride at Second Creek Raceway in Denver do it. The people I met were awesome, friendly, helpful, and alot of fun to be around. That made the day even better.
Denny,
I'm not sure what caused the crash. I Think it was alot of things, I was trying to apex too late, on the gas too early, that corner has a patch right in the middle. I'm not really sure, that's the thing that bothers me. I didn't really learn anything from it. It happened so fast, I didn't feel the tires give or the suspension flex. One second I was fine, the next I was sliding on the ground watching my bike slide away.
On the plus side, I did get to cornerwork my own crash. |

| Re: crashed at my first track day Half -
Sorry you crashed, glad it didn't stop you from continuing. What type of instruction was available, and did you get input with regard to bike set up, riding position, tire pressures, etc?
BTW, I agree with your opinion of cosmetic damage - they're just battle scars. |

| Re: crashed at my first track day Yup, I did the same, crashed my CBR600F3 on my first track day. Low side, resulting form getting some confidence a bit too early into the 2nd session, and possible the fact my rear were slightly squared off. Broke my left clip on and the fairings - managed to find a clip on and some electrical tape, get the thing patched up and only lose 2 sessions before getting back out
fun

| Re: crashed at my first track day CBRVFR,
I was getting qualified to race in that club, so we went through alot of stuff. This is a general breakdown.
Safety,
How to get off the track
What the flags mean
bike prep
rider prep
what to expect on race day
Bike setup,
suspension setup
brake wear
tire pressure
reading your tires
Racing theory,
reading the track
setting up for a corner
corner entry
corner apex
corner exit
picking the fastest line
We would do eight laps at a time, then pit and talk about what I was doing right and wrong. The instructor would pick out one or two things to work on. Then we would go back out and do it again. I learned a pile, alot of stuff you don't even think about on the street. Now I have to find a track bike |
