| Want more time on-track Last saturday I did my first novice trackday with the UK's No Limits Trackday group, but I was expecting to have the track to ourselfs for the day, not to have to share it with the fast and inter groups. It turns out we got 5 lots of 6 laps, almost every hour or so. but each time I was only just getting into it as they started waving the final lap flag.
Is their any way of getting more track time or does everyone get 20min slots? |

| Re: Want more time on-track in our track day's we have 3 groups (most of the time) and do 20 minute sessions. sometimes if too many enter we have 4 groups and 15 minute sessions and go 1 additional session sometimes. of course here when the temps are in the 90's and humid, we're looking forward for the checkered flag. |

| Re: Want more time on-track Bummer, it looks like all trackdays are in 20min segments.
To get more time i supose we have to race. |

| Re: Want more time on-track Over here it is 20 minutes mostly though I have run some 30 minute ones. We also occasionally have open track at places but you need to be running quick for those (and I think they are less safe).
The other thing is to race. We have an org that does 20 lappers though if you are not in fast or intermediate that is less of an option.
Like Bulldog said though, 20 minutes in Alabama during summer is brutal hot. Last year it was 108 at TGP during August, more than even I could take and I like heat

| Re: Want more time on-track keep your ears open for someone renting the track, someone rented our local track and i was lucky enough to be invited to join. we had the choice of 20 minute sessions, or 30. we picked 20. |

| Re: Want more time on-track Get some tire warmers so you can start ripping right away, and get into the fast group where going fast takes a little more work, 20 mins. will then be plenty of time. |

Im gonna have to start running track tyres though, cos my BT016's were drifting under the heat on the last lap. Balls of rubber coming off the tyre.
Cooked my breaks too (probably poor technique or nerves) but ive uprated to Motul RBF600 racing fluid, so i should last the distance now. |

| Re: Want more time on-track i run the 002RS's, and found i was putting too much air in them. i was running 29-30 frt, and 27-28 rear. i had to drop to 26 1/2 rear. those 016's should do fine til you REALLy start picking up the pace. i've got buddies running the 002Rs's hard, and the 016's hard as well.
having said that i see you got an 08, i got a friend running the 002's on the 08 and he said didn't plan to run them any more on it??? he was running probably 30/29 i think. |

| Re: Want more time on-track spina220 - yes your correct, but i think i cooked my tyres on the last lap, not just got them hot. I understand Race tyres can get hotter.
I think i could do with another set of wheels or a track bike, cos i do allot of road riding and I dont wanna be running DOT rated tyres on the street really. bulldog12 - havent they recently been replaced with the 003's?. They did have a sale on the 003's and they were the same price as the 016's, but apparently they dont last that long, being super soft and are not as good in the wet. As id only ridden street at the time I thought is better stick on the safe side.
When i measured what psi Knutsford Honda dealer had put in my new 016's, it was 40 front and 30 rear WTF! I ran 30/30 at the track. |

| Re: Want more time on-track Look for track providers doing OPEN trackdays.
Most 3 group days here are 20 minutes, 2 group are 30. I find myself pulling in the pits before the 30 minutes are over on the 2 group format.
I've run PS2's, BT016's and 208GP's on the track, I usually do 1-2 warm up laps then hit it hard. Warm up laps should be taken at a good clip as well, there are a lot of people that run faster warm up laps than I do hot laps haha.
Your pressures are too high. When I was running 16's I was running cold 26 front 22 rear. If they start to get chewed up then add a pound or two. |

22 sounds a bit low to be honest, ive run 15 & 20 on my stunt bike but we always have the worry of the tyre comming off the rim on a corner. |

Usually 30 in the front 29 rear depending on temp., but I just ask the Pirelli guys at the track what pressures to run and use what they tell me. Always check your pressure when the tire is hot not cold so it is accurate, temp can change about 5 pounds or so. |

What are the benefits of running such low pressures like 22 on track? |

| Re: Want more time on-track Trying to find the other video but this one's ok. Hyper Slow Motion at Sachsenring | The Official MotoGP Website
Less pressure, more contact patch, and more compression/expansion of the rubber itself to help heat up quicker.
Give it a shot next time you're out, if you don't like it after a few laps go back in and air up. |

correct: the 002's were replaced w/ the 003's (i've heard good things about the 003's, but i'm finding the 002rs's for 215 shipped set, so as long as i can find them i'll continue w/ them. then the 003's |

What are the benefits of running such low pressures like 22 on track? | I know the shell of the dunlop is much thicker and harder than Pirelli, so less pressure is needed other than that there is no reason for me, but I will not have to worry about that because I will use Pirelli's only from now on anyway.. |

| Pressure will increase depending on how hard you're riding it as well as conditions obviously. You want to set the cold temp so that when its warmed up it'll be at optimal pressure for grip. I generally start with 31/30 as a benchmark at the track, then adjust as necessary. |
