| Re: Track Days I just spent a couple of hours reading about the JenningsGP track day. It sounded great.
Anyone know how to set one up for this side of the country?
There are at least 5 tracks in California to choose from.
I am willing to help, but have no experience.
Is there enough people interested? |

I was hoping for Sear's Point, but there's a nasty waiting list.

| Re: Track Days I've been a little out of touch with the west coast happenings but I thought there was going to be a .org event out in Nevada at some point??? We did one in Michigan last year in which we had people from all over the country show up. This time, the west coasters weren't all that thrilled at driving 3000 miles so we had started planning 2 events, one for you guys and one for us.
If the west coast .org event falls thru there are plenty of guys and girls out your way who are members here that could point you in the right direction as to whp to hook up with for your first track day. |

| Re: Track Days NH, that fizzled out a long time ago. Looks like no one wanted to plan it, or just got lazy.
However, it would still be nice to get one going. I'm thinking of the lines in July though as my leathers are MIA on a plane somewhere. |

mmeacham : I am willing to help, but have no experience.
| mmeacham,
I had NO experience in organizing a trackday event and I coordinated the JenningsGP one, and I think it went well all things considered.
Take the reigns and run with it. Find a track with an open date, find out what it costs to rent it and figure how many people you gotta have to cover the costs... If you get what you determine to be 'significant' response about the event, move forward with it. I made $0 for the jennings event, I only charged everyone what it cost to get the track... It can be done... If you need pointers or advice or help getting started, feel free to shoot me a PM... I'll help anyway I can.

| Re: Track Days I am in the midst of doing one for another group here in Ohio that I ride with (going back up to Grattan for this one). It isn't that hard. It took a couple of days to make the calls around to the various tracks to get pricing. Then I did the same as CC and just figured out how many people we would need to make it affordable. Grattan was the best bet for us by a long shot (20-30 people at $120 each is a pretty good price). I didn't want to be like Abtech last year and organize the event and then not really get to ride at it so I have enlisted the assistance of STT (www.sportbiketracktime.com). They are going to run the event for a small fee which allows me the time to ride. I believe they are tied in with Pacific Track Time. If you can't afford a couple hundred extra bucks to have someone run it then just make it a small event and do it yourself.
I attended an open track day at Grattan a couple of years ago. There were probably 20 people or so and we didn't even have classes or groups. Basically, you went out on the track when you wanted and came in when you were tired. We all followed a set of ground rules to help keep the event safe. There were no crashes and no close calls that day, but there was *gobs* of track time.
It isn't too hard to do really. You just need to make it fairly affordable. Even if you don't get a huge turnout from here you can always post the info out to friends in other groups and pretty easily come up with 20-30 people who will attend. |

fireblade_rr : I'll be at Laguna on the 29th with Class.
| You missed an awesome day on the 5/22 with Lance. All the buds were there, alot of really fun dicing. I think there were even some spaces that opened up at the very end. Some buds convinced me to go last minute--glad they did.
Reagrding setting up a firebaldes.org day on the west coast, why bother???
There are so many trackdays, that if a 'group' got together and signed up for Kiegwins/ZoomZoom/Other, it would make lot more sense. I have only seen six guys from CA at trackdays
1) Firebladerr
2) Vnatchu
3) RRwanter
4) LTL
5) Cowboy
6) RC
So anyone that would go thru all the hassle/risk to set up a firebaldes.org day on the west coast is a glutton for abuse |

| Re: Track Days A really cheap option would be MTC Trackday at Willow Springs or Streets of Willow. One day is $99/110 depending on the track and the second is 79/90. Only bad thing is it's during the week. It's a great organization. One of the SoCal boards are doing a date out there in Sept and the whole group will be from the board with MTC 'officiating' |

RC = who me?
The only .org members I've been on the track with were SLODUCK and fireblade_rr.
However we're signing up for a couple track days very soon.
Also, check in with BARF for local track day events. They're a fun bunch to ride the track! |

Very tempting. I was hoping to try a track other than Thunderhill.
But if you haven't been there, I think you'll like it!
(thanks for the benefit of the doubt, Ho. I was thinking to myself 'hmm....was he part of the EMA group with Greg or something?') |
