| New Bodywork Question For those of us that do track days, do you keep a set of bodywork strictly for the track? My RC is primarily a street bike w/a few track days thrown in. (like Gratten, Mid-Ohio)
Is it worth $450 for a set of Hotbodies plastic to preserve the stock stuff???
What do you guys think? |

| Re: New Bodywork Question I think it is worth it. I bought some used bodywork and a tank for when I ride on the track. The tank is a major PITA to swap, so I leave my track tank on all the time. I haven't been down at the track yet, but it does give me peace of mind to know that I am not risking the stock bodywork. Not only is the stock stuff about four times more expensive, it is also less protective than fiberglass.
The first several times at the track were when the bike was nearly new and I was running full stock bodywork. I feel much more at ease now with a track body on it.
I hope to try Grattan this year. |

| Re: New Bodywork Question I think it's well worth it to buy race plastic if you're on the track very much. I got a lot more confident (which is good and bad, LOL) with race plastic since the whole set costs lots less than trying to replace a few stock pieces.

| Re: New Bodywork Question Just get a set of used stuff off eBay. Maybe a little fiberglass repair and some paint and off you go. You can go the full paint job route or spraycan or slap some stickers on the raw bodywork and enjoy! It takes about 5-10 mins to totally remove race bodywork on most bikes. |

The average crash on a track is $2000.00.

Now that my bike is no longer a virgin I don't worry about the cosmetics. A buddy with a 929 has been down 3 times with the stock plastic and the stuff has held up well, surprisingly (bike looks like hell though).
