I'd like to know how well the Trumpet racks up the miles, in terms of reliablity and cost of ownership. It would take a very strong endorsement to drag me away from Honda. |

Oil changes every 6k (I know we all will do it more frequently) and the first valve adjustment I think is at 12k miles.
The only problem I have seen is there have been some quality control issues as far as several recalls already and for example, the optional bags need some work. |

| Re: My new ride... So a bit more of an update:
I bled the brakes, got some air out of the lines and now they are fanatastic brakes.
It gets hot... sitting in traffic is not what you want to do with this bike. SHould be nice in the winter however...
Bike feels very balanced and after adjusting the suspension a bit it is more comfortable to me and holds a line well in the corner. I think I still have some work to do on it but seems to be adjustable enough to make it comfy.
It is a much bigger bike than my 636 so that has taken some getting used to. The seat height is greater and you definately sit more upright. The balance seems to be pretty good and it doesn't feel so top-heavy.
The motor (except for the heat) is fantastic. Power everywhere... |

| Re: My new ride... Well, I finally got a chance to go for a ride on the sprint longer than riding back and forth to work. (Wife, baby and surgery resident what can I say?)
I took it out to Goose Creek by way of some nice curvy roads. It handles very well. It is not a lightweight sport-bike but is very easy to throw into the corners and holds a line well. The engine is fabulous. Pulls hard from any gear. Reminds me much more of a twin than an IL4. Can't wait to get up to the mountains after the winter. |

Some people shake their heads at me.
My wife's best friend's brother was hit by a bus and killed instantly last week. He lives up in the VA beach area and was out jogging. he tripped and fell in front of a school bus and was killed. So you never know when your number is up...

Tom | About 2500 now...
I love it. Of course I haven't gotten to ride it since the helicopter incident...
Smooth, comfy and sporty enough for what I was after. I've only gotten to go on an extended trip a couple of times, and the bike did great. Fantastic gas mileage. 45 in town and over 50 on the highway. I have yet to see another on the road around here so it has exclusivity.
For the future, I want to first, get it fixed
then get a set of hard luggage and an aftermarket exhaust. |

Tom | Still love mine too, after nearly 4,000 miles, including some day trips. Mushy front brake continues to be the only "issue" I've had, which is great once it's bled, but then seems to come back after a while.
Everything else about it has been really good. It's a great sport-touring bike. |

They aren't as good as the radial brakes on the zx-10 but they aren't bad either. |

I tested one for Two Wheels AUS Bike of the year late last year. All the testers loved it. It was the most comfortable ride out of the bunch and just ate up the corners. The midrange is bliss. I love the top speed recording ability on the digital cluster too - could be dangerous in the wrong hands though.
