I know, it pains me profoundly. Well, there is the Blackbird, but it's overdue for an update.

I'd like to know how well the Trumpet racks up the miles, in terms of reliablity and cost of ownership. It would take a very strong endorsement to drag me away from Honda.

Well, from cruising their forums, it seems they are pretty cheap to own. Oil changes every 6k (I know we all will do it more frequently) and the first valve adjustment I think is at 12k miles.

The only problem I have seen is there have been some quality control issues as far as several recalls already and for example, the optional bags need some work.

Re: My new ride...

Wow, just saw this from the Triumph forum site... maybe when I add a sportbike back to the stable it will be another triumph!

Re: My new ride...

So a bit more of an update:
I bled the brakes, got some air out of the lines and now they are fanatastic brakes.

It gets hot... sitting in traffic is not what you want to do with this bike. SHould be nice in the winter however...

Bike feels very balanced and after adjusting the suspension a bit it is more comfortable to me and holds a line well in the corner. I think I still have some work to do on it but seems to be adjustable enough to make it comfy.

It is a much bigger bike than my 636 so that has taken some getting used to. The seat height is greater and you definately sit more upright. The balance seems to be pretty good and it doesn't feel so top-heavy.

The motor (except for the heat) is fantastic. Power everywhere...

The more pics I see of this bike the more I like it. If I was in the market for such a bik the Trumpet would be tops on the list.

Re: My new ride...

Well, I finally got a chance to go for a ride on the sprint longer than riding back and forth to work. (Wife, baby and surgery resident what can I say?)

I took it out to Goose Creek by way of some nice curvy roads. It handles very well. It is not a lightweight sport-bike but is very easy to throw into the corners and holds a line well. The engine is fabulous. Pulls hard from any gear. Reminds me much more of a twin than an IL4. Can't wait to get up to the mountains after the winter.

My wife's best friend's brother was hit by a bus and killed instantly last week. He lives up in the VA beach area and was out jogging. he tripped and fell in front of a school bus and was killed. So you never know when your number is up...

It's been getting great writeups in the press, ranked higher than the Viffer, now that's saying something about Triumph's progress ! Congrats !

That's what I thought: that curve is almost dead flat. Big block Chevies can't even touch that thing. Nice.

So how many miles now? Are you ready for a bit more of a "long term" report? That bad boy is on my short list now, and I'm closing in on my "buy" window.

About 2500 now...

I love it. Of course I haven't gotten to ride it since the helicopter incident...

Smooth, comfy and sporty enough for what I was after. I've only gotten to go on an extended trip a couple of times, and the bike did great. Fantastic gas mileage. 45 in town and over 50 on the highway. I have yet to see another on the road around here so it has exclusivity.

For the future, I want to first, get it fixed
then get a set of hard luggage and an aftermarket exhaust.

Still love mine too, after nearly 4,000 miles, including some day trips. Mushy front brake continues to be the only "issue" I've had, which is great once it's bled, but then seems to come back after a while.

Everything else about it has been really good. It's a great sport-touring bike.

I bled my front brake once and haven't had an issue since.

They aren't as good as the radial brakes on the zx-10 but they aren't bad either.

Me too. Been thinking of selling it since I bought the motard, as I don't really need three bikes, but now I'm leaning towards keeping it.

Beautiful bike mate. I tested one for Two Wheels AUS Bike of the year late last year. All the testers loved it. It was the most comfortable ride out of the bunch and just ate up the corners. The midrange is bliss. I love the top speed recording ability on the digital cluster too - could be dangerous in the wrong hands though.

Cheers,<
