Triumph 650 Oil Pressure HELP??

Hi all,

So I have exhausted all ideas, hopefully someone can shed some light for me. I have an old scholl 69v Triupmh Bonneville (Chopper) that I have been restoring. It sat for 25 years prior to this. I disassembled the upper half and replaced all the gaskets and seals. My issue is I cannot for the life of me get this motor to prime the oil pump. This is a 650 twin engine with a plunger type pump. I will run you through what I have done and manybe someone will see something I missed.

I removed and cleaned the oil tank and strainer. Removeed the oil lines that go from the tappets and both lower inlet and outlet tubes and cleaned. Performed a pressure test on outlet line from the oil pump, (it is pressurizing) and a vaccum test on the inlet side (There is vaccum). Lets see, I pulled the oil pump for the secone time to perform a visual inspection, (pulled both the cylinders (Appear to be a smooth sealed fit) pump blocks are not worn.

I also pulled the crankcase drain plug to ensure the strainer down there wasnt plugged.

To no avail I can kick it and kick it and I cant get any oil to pump up to the tappets and as for the lower half I have not yet been able to get oil to come out of the oil pump outlet tube.

Any ideas and/or suggestions would be most apprecaited. At this point, I am willing to start goign through the engine again for plugged galleys but I dont knwo where they all are.

Thanks,

Brian

Re: Triumph 650 Oil Pressure HELP??

I had the same issue with a 67 and 69 650. Some old guy at a show told me the oil pump would do this when it gets old. The pumps corrected both machines.
