| My Rant How long is too long? I have been waiting 7 count them 7 weeks for around $2000(american even) in stuff that I ordered the week before the Ohio AMA race I have now missed the best part of the summer and will be lucky to get much riding in this fall with the way the weather has been around here. Needless to say I am severly PISSED OFF, if I had of know that it would have taken this long, I would have ordered from some were else and paid a bit more...even a hunderd or two more, but, at least I would have had it by now.
I have tried E-mailing(no response) and about 6 calls have all resulted in numerous excuses ad short put off answers like it is stuck at the canadian border, it should be released shortly blah blah blah...all I want is a UPS tracking number...so I know that it has been shipped and then I can bitch about canada post or ups or who ever... Just let me know that it has been shipped(with proof)
I was going to wait until I got everything in and installed to post up pics and surpirse every one with my new bits, but, I am starting to wonder if I will ever get the stuff in that I ordered( I will keep what that is a secret for now ) and hope that sometime before the snow flies I will have my parts.
Anyone have any ideas? Comments? I am with withholding the companys name for now as I am not one to slander, but 7 weeks, soon to be 8, this is getting a little rediculous and I am not getting any more patient . |

My little problem is not as expensive as yours but if you feel you've been shafted, don't hesitate in a timely manner to let us all know who put the screws to you. |

| Re: My Rant This whole issue has really soured me on the online purchasing procedure. I am now worried everytime I buy anything that I am never going to see it, or if I do it be coming with my winter mitts.
I am not quite ready to divulge the name yet as he has asked me to give him until monday(that is how long it takes the prduct to get from the border to my house apparently) if monday rolls around and no parts, I will be really angry and will most certainly share the offending partys name.
It would not have been such a big deal if it was later in the year or if I was just getting some minor things but...I have wanted this stuff since I got the bike and it is the middle of the summer...I just can't help but think what it will be like when I finally get it all put on, it kinda wears the "new" off of the bike until you get the stuff you've purchased(if that makes sence?) |

| Re: My Rant Well you've twisted my arm...I have had enough and waited too long for what I have wanted...
I have been dealing with Flat out motorcycles...the same place that I bought my rearsets from...they were great to deal with in person at the ohio races and aranging this purchase was quite easy, but I have to say that their service really bites if things don't go as planned
I don't know what I am going to do if I don't see something in the next couple of weeks, maybe I will order it from some one else and just ship it all back? at the rate that it is getting here now, I would likely have the other stuff first
I am not saying not to deal with flat out by any means, just saying don't be in a hurry if you do. |

| Re: My Rant Kind of figured it was them, there have been several people on here that have had extended waiting periods from them.
I live approx 40-45 miles from them, let me know if you need any help in person. I would not mind picking up the parts and shipping myself if that is needed. It would give me an excuse to look at the KTM line up anyhow. I WILL NOT BUY FROM FLAT OUT. |

| Re: My Rant Apparently...it has been shipped...although until I get a tracking number, I am still doubtful.
I wonder if they just forgot to mail it, or if it really did get stuck at the border? either way almost 8 weeks is way too much.
I just want to get this transaction behind me |

At the time he was a LOT cheaper than anywere else and when I say a lot I mean like almost $300(american, which is a lot when your paying in monopoly money ) but, now I am almost wishing that I had of paid the extra money and got it here ASAP... waiting SUCKS. |

I know my dealer isn't the cheapest in town, but they always take good care of me so I go back. I'd rather pay a little extra for that peace of mind.
Live and learn I guess. I hope you get your stuff soon... |

Live and learn I guess. I hope you get your stuff soon... | I wish that I could have used some one local...man would it be great to have some one who would sell this stuff localy, I would have paid the extra for sure... I just cannot get this stuff from anyone in canada...other than maybe OPP racing and they can be really expensive and they are in B.C.(and who wants to buy anything from them )
Like I said when I dealt with him at the races he was VERY accomodating, and figured that I would deal with him again, but, this is does not sit well at all.
I am beyond the point of even getting excited when the mail comes(sad I know) as I just kind of accept that it is not going to be there |

| Re: My Rant Rob, I've bought a lot of stuff online from American retailers, and while the prices are much lower, I'm finding that it isn't worth it in the end. It's especially bad if they ship FedEx or UPS because you'll get a nice surprise in the mail a couple weeks after you get your goods. I recieved a bill for $60 for duty from Fedex on a $200.00 order. Next time just get your local dealer to order the stuff and make sure to beat him up on the price. |

| Re: My Rant I priced out the stuff that I ordered from one of the "better" local dealers and it would have been $3700 plus taxes I am really not enjoying the wait but, for the extra $2000 canadian, I can afford to I guess.
On a side note I am going to be moving again this week to a new address, I am hoping that UPS delivers it this week or how am I going to get it? will it be lost in transit for another 3 weeks? Without a tracking # I am pretty much screwed
I am hoping that it does show up tonight, like he said, but I am not holding my breath as it was suppost to be here about 6 weeks ago so.... |

| Re: My Rant Northern, If you've been in Windsor, why hasn't it occurred to you to have the bits shipped into the Detroit area, and come to collect them? Or ride your bike over, change out the parts and ride back?
Duty on a box of old used stuff would be less, no? |

| Re: My Rant Flatout drop ships a lot of their products. You probably need the tracking number from their supplier. I went through this with Slava on a new PCIII. I raised hell with him until he got the tracking number from Kyle.

| Re: My Rant Thanks for the ideas guys. I am going to call him today if I have not gotten it by 3 and let him know that I NEED tracking # as we are moving again and I dont want it to get lost or god forbid delayed even more.
I would have just jumped the border but I am now living in barrie(4 hours north) and moving again...6 times in the last 2 years...14 in the last 25 years, oh what fun. |

Whats one more week when it has already been 8? |

| Re: My Rant Well - I am not going to defend them since its not my place. I can tell you this. Make sure that if you are in Canada you get your dealer to ship using USPS. We have found that although this takes a little longer you can often avoid the import duties etc. It costs less too. The downside is tracking. You can pay extra to get a tracking number on it etc from USPS but once it gets to the Canadaian border you are SOL. It wont track from there on for some weird reason. We have developed some "tricks" over the years to almost guarantee that our customers don't pay duties etc but it is never guaranteed. BTW - having your items sent marked as "gift" means you cannot get insurance sometimes so be careful with that one.
I am sorry to hear about your dilemna man, that really sucks. I hope everything works out and you are happy with the parts when they get there!

| Re: My Rant I am still waiting on my BMC air filters(which I have now been charged for)...but I don't think that I will be purchasing anything else there any time soon...I am pretty pissed as well, I have had 2 bogus tracking #'s and about a 3 month wait to get my stuff to date...and I am still waiting... not impressed...I wish that I had of saw your post before I bought...
as for duties I have had pretty good luck when it comes to the crossing, knock on wood...keep your fingers crossed as there is more stuff on the way...someday. |
