| Grayboy Not a happy camper about this.
This is well over a year ago, but I've had some serious issues with this place, and it's not just with the sales/parts. it's an all around thing.
Story starts. I bought my first bike in November of 04. Gixxer 600. Loved it till it was totalled on christmas day, 04. Lady disobeyed a traffic control sign, ran across 4 lanes and blam, i hit her. no biggie. i'm ok, bike's gone. need new bike.
Go buy new bike. I'm looking for a bike with my cast on. Everyone said "stay away from grayboy motorsports" I went in to look. You never know, right? Well, there is a 2000 gixxer 750. oh man, i'm in love. it's bigger than mine, and every review says it's the best bike. I like it, cause it's not a 1000cc bike, and, it's 5500 out the door. I put my money down, and come back 1 week later and buy it, still in cast. I ask, Ok, what happens if it breaks etc. they say "no warranty, but if it sucks in a week, let us know" well, that's fine, except it's january 5th, and it's snowing for the rest of the month, plus, the whole CAST ON MY ARM. But, i ride it home, with no issue.
it sits for a month or so, and i go to start it, dead. no juice.
call them up "yeah, well, it never started. we think the battery is bad" That should have been my clue. "are you gonna replace it? get me a new battery?"
no.
Ok, so now it's a 5575 dollar bike.
new battery doesn't work. it dies 1 week later. i didn't ride, cause i was still in the cast, but 1 week, on a new battery? so i get a jump kit, and ride it (with cast) over to a service shop.
Bad stator. (ouch)
so, now it's a 5900 bike.
Again, call dealer. tell them what's up. they don't care. they blow me off. Hey, you bought it as is. You should have known these things. "NO!! YOU DIDN'T DECLARE THEM"
ugh.
On the way to get the stator checked, i notice an odd feeling, like the chain is slipping or something. the power surges. "yeah, it could use a new chain and sprockets."
120 conversion - 190 bucks. 6090 for the bike now. OH, and new tires. the tires that were on there were 120/50's, and 170/55. WHAT??? Also, they were a touring compound tires, that NEVER WARMED UP. it was terrible. i slid around corners the first week i got my cast off.
new tires, d208's, 350.
ok, 6420. i'm still not tooo pissed. just miffed off. then, that chain slipping thing comes back. WTF?!? Go to repair shop, they test drive, and say yeah, only in second gear, right? "yeah, so?"
it's your transmission.
UGH!! 1500 TO FIX.
final straw. go to dealer, 5 mo after purchase. it takes another week to get the new sales manager in. He's there, and i am calm about it. Why yell? I just tell him the situation, and he'll want to keep a customer, right? wrong.
"you were doing wheelies" in the snow? with a cast? it's like may. any of you that know central IL know that's not prime riding season. besides, i wasn't doing wheelies, i couldn't do them, i was mighty scared.
" I wasn't. you sold me a bike with all these problems, you didn't check any of it."
well, long story short, they wouldn't do it, and didn't do it. eventually the guy told me to "****off, we are not going to fix your ****!"
SO. This is water under the bridge for me. I'll never deal with them again. They are the devil. I bought my 954 from a private seller, and will probibly do so from now on. I hate dealerships, and will never go to one if possible.
Grayboy Motorsports, Peoria Heights IL. You need a bike, DON'T go there.
OH, interesting post script, asshole owner came to my RESTURANT after this whole ordeal. I said "Hey, nice jacket" (honda jacket) He said "yeah, i own a honda dealer. I said which one. Grayboy. "wow, really? I bought a bike from there. I loved it intensely! What a great sales team!" Thinking to get a better tip.
he tips 8%. Now, I am by far not the god of servers, but I am FAR better than most. I always get a table to smile and be comfortable, and when asked for a recomendation, I have always gotten complements. My tip's average 20-30% in a town where many don't tip over 10-15%.
**** him, **** them.
It really sucks for them too, cause now I will go to chicago or Iowa or Melbourne, Austrailia before buying from them again. And I am buying a new bike this year, So are 4 of my friends. Guess who's not getting any buisness from us in the form of gear or bikes? |
