After some research and talking to people as well as a few phone conversations with Mike I decided to send him my forks for a re-valve/spring.

Let me just say this...Mike is a fantastic guy to deal with. Very pleasant to talk to on the phone, took the time to answer all my questions in detail. Everything went exactly like he said it would, my forks came back a day or two earlier than he said they would. One of the nice things about the whole thing is that it doesn't even look like a wrench touched them.

I can't wait to go for a ride

5.27.06 UPDATE: Well his rep just took a serious hit. The shop that's working on my bike pulled my forks apart and there are 1.0 springs in there. No wonder I couldn't get the right sag out of them. This is after several phone conversations of me mentioning how much I weigh and leaving a note in the box with the forks when I sent them in. He's getting a phone call from me first thing Tuesday morning.

sweet. Couple things I've read about him he seems top notch. let us know how they feel once you get it out for a good ride in the spring.

I had to have him put stiffer springs in.

I read 11 pages of that **** and didn't get any resolution.. in the meantime, ND4 sent him some forks and got them back already..

I think from the time I shipped them out to the time I got them back they were gone for 3 weeks. I called him a day after he received them, he said he was backlogged 1 1/2 weeks. One week later I got a phone call asking what I wanted done. A day or two later he called me saying they were done and asked how I would like to pay. I had them in my hands 2 days later.

I'd send him another set of forks without thinking twice about it.

Do you guys know if he is open on Saturday? Or is his hours hit or miss (there is nothing on his excellant and in depth website)

What kind of stuff did he use? Race-tech? Ohlins? Somehting else/secret?
Did he just modify the valving you had in there ?
Did you ever feel you had a problem with the front, or did you think that in order to race, you just needed to upgrade from street to track orientation?
Did he say that the springs in it were inappropriate for your weight?
What did he charge for this service?
You running the stock shock?

He did a stock re-valve which he said was the most popular thing for a track day junkie and occasional racer. He did put heaver springs in, I am unsure of the brand however. I did have a choice of Race-tech or Ohlins internals as well, I just didn't feel I needed to spend the extra money. Maybe in a year or two, but for now I really think this will be enough for my current skillset and more.

I wouldn't say I had a problem with the front, but I did feel that the front of the bike dove too much. The preload was cranked down all the way and it still felt a bit soft. I probably could have gotten away with just stiffer springs, but I figured if he was gonna tear them apart, I might as well take care of the rest of it too.

The shock is still the OEM one. When DK set up my suspension at Grattan '04 we determined that it was a pretty good match for my weight at the time which hasn't changed much.

I didn't tell him what springs to put in there as I know less than nothing about suspension setup. I simply told him what I weigh with gear on. From what reading I've done I know that .95 springs are what the 180lb + riders get.

180 is right on the bubble between .95 and 1.0. Dan wanted me to run 1.0s, but I tried them and didn't like the feel on accel or quick transitions. You may want to search on settings for the CBR600rr, as a lot of racers are running way different sag numbers than bikes without the topout spring.

Exactly my point. I'm about 170 soaking wet with gear. I described the situation to the shop that is fixing the unwanted features of the bike and they are putting in .85 springs IIRC and cutting the spacers down a bit.
