Anyone deal with GDL Cycles before?

I ordered some parts from http://www.gdlcycles.com/ last week. They were promptly shipped & I rec'd them today. The packaging was good but the parts were not as described on their site. They were listed as having come off of a brand new bike "Never Run" that had frame damage from a forklift incident during shipping but are obviously used with road grime. The forks are bent & the exhaust has quite a few dings & scuffs/scratches along with carbon build up. The radiator had fluid in it & has a couple small dents in the fins. The front brake reservoir had fluid in it but looks fine. The signals have scuffs, but are usable. The tail light seems to be in the best shape with no noticeable marks.

I called immediately and spoke to a guy named Tim that said it was hard to believe that the forks are bent (several times), but would never say that someone had indeed inspected them before they were labeled as "New & never run." I'm waiting on a call back from his boss named Troy to see what he has to say about a refund of my $.

This is my first time purchasing from an online used parts house so I have no idea what to expect really. If anyone knows these guys, please let me know. I'd also like to know what other's experiences have been like.

I'll try to post up with my results. I hope I'm not out any $ on this one

EDIT: They are located in Milton, Florida.

Re: Anyone deal with GDL Cycles before?

i dealt w/ gdlcycles a half dozen times while they were still in jersey

all parts were exactly as described

minor shipping issue one time, they straightened it out asap

have not dealt w/ them since they moved to florida, don't know who's workin there now...

take some pics, email them the info and problem...give them a chance to make good...there is a big difference between 'new' and 'used' and even those guys know it

good luck

Re: Anyone deal with GDL Cycles before?

I bought a starter relay from them a while ago, and everything went smoothly and was as described. I think the only thing that I could complain about was that the shipping took a little while. Other than that, I'd do business with them again.
Good luck!

Re: Anyone deal with GDL Cycles before?

Just got off the Phone with Troy. He got all irate and told me the parts were New from a bike that had never been out of the crate & perfect condition. I told him I have no reason to lie about it, he then said to ship them back (in a huff)......for a full refund. I'll take pics and post them up soon.......

Thanks for the replies!

In a huff eh? You may want to mention this thread, especially after you post the pics of what you actually received.

Re: Anyone deal with GDL Cycles before?

UPDATE: I shipped the parts after taking the pics in the exact way they were shipped to me the very next day after I rec'd them. Had my wife call them beforehand to get an RA#. The guy she was talking to (Tom I believe) said he was the one that packaged the parts & that he knew of at least one dent in the exhaust can...then the boss (Troy) grabbed the phone and said "He's mistaken. We will check the parts you send back against the ones in our pictures & "IF" we deem them the same we'll give credit, otherwise we're not going to refund your $!" We checked the tracking # & they rec'd the parts then immediately put them back up for sale on their website. I checked my acct with them & they showed that they had given me a refund. Today I checked my debit card & rec'd the money for the forks & exhaust can.

Conclusion: GDL Cycles listed parts as being in "NEW" condition when in fact they weren't, were rude with their customer (me) about what "they" had done wrong, rec'd the parts back & refunded 100% of the money (except my $40.xx shipping back to them), never apologised, then listed the very same dammaged parts back up for sale on their website as "NEW."

I wasted time & $ on this deal & although I'm happy to have my $ back I'd never do business with them again.

BEWARE when doing business with these folks...what you see & the condition being represented is not always the case.

Check out the forks. Same picture for both & you can even see that it's bent. http://www.gdlcycles.com/asp1/rezdet...temID=209-7120

Re: Anyone deal with GDL Cycles before?

I feel your pain brother. I bought one thing from those assclowns from their website via paypal. They wanted me to call them over the phone to pay for the shipping of the brake perch I ordered. I explained to them over emails that I was over seas in the military and to send the items to my place in Cali. and charge my card. Assclowns never listened to me and my part sat in their shop for a month. After I had my wife call them and pay them the shipping they finally sent the part. So it took about a month and a half to get my order. I'm not happy with the customer service at all and will never order from them again. The brake perch I ordered came dirty and greasy. Atleast they could have cleaned it up before they sent it.

Keep up the good work GDL cycles.

Well, at least now we have a pretty good idea what GDL stands for... So would that be 'Liars' or 'Losers?'

good info for future reference. I always use my credit card rather than paypal to pay for anything online. That extra little protection is worth it.

Re: Anyone deal with GDL Cycles before?

I bought a 1996 CBR 900 RR motor form GDL Cycles. I was a little nervous paying 800.00 plus 120 shipping. They said the engine had 190 PSI on each cylinder. To my supprise the actual PSI was higher like 195-198. When I went actually install the engine I noticed the water pump was missing, when I called them they said they do not sell their motors with water pumps but they sent me one at no charge if I pay the shipping, which i thought was fair because now that i go back and look at the other pictures of motors none of them have the water pumps on them. Anyway I was happy with my purchase.
