| Baxley Companies Yes. The makers of the Baxley Sport Chock. Figured since I was at FT Rucker and only 20 miles away from the company that makes the infamous sport chock, I would take the opportunity to visit the "factory".
All I can say is . After checking out the website, I was expecting some highly efficient, major operation that pumps out chocks and trailers like Taiwanese children pump out Martha Stewart clothing. Boy was I surprised.
Baxley Companies is straight hometown manufacturing at its best. As I walked in the front door of the "main building" there was no way to get past the secretary, which I expected. I told her I had been on the website and saw that it invited me to visit the place. She smiled, in downhome southern belle fashion, and picked up her phone to call someone. I could hear the voice that answered both through her receiver and from up the stairs, which were only 15' from the front entrance. As she spoke with Mr. Baxley, I again had a look of on my face. I came expecting a sales rep and I'm going to speak with Mr. Baxley himself.
So I got a tour of the facilities from Mr. Baxley himself. No waiting, no hassle, no pretentious personality, no BS. Mr. Baxley was down the stairs before I finished my next sentence, "Are you serious, Mr. Baxley has time to take me through the showroom?"
Well, the "showroom" isn't a showroom. We walked a couple hundred feet from the main building to the "factory". The showroom is the factory, a nondescript metal building where a couple of welders do their thing to the parts for the chocks and trailers. Mr. Baxley showed me the entire operation, explained the detail in the chocks and showed me the details of the trailers they build. If you haven't seen the trailers in person, it's no wonder they have a patent on them, pics don't do the engineering justice.
I'm going back later this week to pick up a couple of chocks, take some pictures and revel in the biggest little hometown business I've ever had the pleasure to visit. |

The powdercoating process actually makes the chock completely invisible and the new antigravity stainless steel makes it completely weightless. PM me your address and I'll box it up and send it to you. I got one for Phobe too, I'll put it in the same box.
As for the group buy, I asked about that. According to the website, anyone can set one up with an order of 12 or more and the price is discounted. If the person setting up the group buy is eligible for a discount, in my case military, the discount will still be applied. Quote:
Group Buys/Quantity Discount
Any individual or dealer may purchase a quantity of 12 chocks (LA or Sport or combination) and Baxley will pay the shipping costs. This typically is a 10 to 15% savings. There must be a single purchaser/payment and the shipment must go to a single destination. If the individual purchaser (not a dealer) is also eligible for any of the above discounts, we will also apply the 10% discount to the entire purchase.
| So if you want ten, PM me and I'll pick them up on Thursday Unfortunately, I can't offer free shipping and I don't know what shipping from Kentucky would cost. |

| Re: Baxley Companies Pit Bull is similar. The owner's wife (or co-owner) is the lady in the office. If you go to a trade show you will likely meet the owner. Though the shop is kind of cool and very clean.

| Re: Baxley Companies Great folks. When I bought my trailer a few years ago, one of the Mister(s) Baxley was on his way to NC on business, so he just hitched the trailer up and brought it to me! The kind of folks you feel good about dealing with. |

It's the info from the web site. The person doing the group buy would have the ship the 11 chocks to the other members ........ |

| Re: Baxley Companies I have been quiet now on this for a reason. I suspected that this is harder than thought. While I am in 'bama the distance to Dothan area is large, first problem. Second the box is rather large that a chock comes in, so bringing 5 in boxes to Grattan would be difficult. Not in boxes would be easier but still a lot of space. Let alone 10. This is a great product but a group buy would be hard logistically

I have been considering purchasing one. I already have the "bike grab" purchased I believe through FB's quite awhile ago in a group buy. But wouldn't mind another chock. Maybe this can happen at FBO days next year? |

| Re: Baxley Companies If a military member was the person who dealt with baxley then the additional 10% would make it worth it for the rest since they would have to pay the originator for shipping to their home...
they seem to have a real good thing going there. Whenever I buy a trailer I most likely will need a couple of those chaulks.

Jet, Dothan is a pretty good drive from Jennings but it won't add too much time to your trip home. There are some shortcuts in the area that can get you heading north on highways fairly quickly. |
