Driven Grips

Well, I ordered these grips from Motomummy, installed them a couple days ago, and I finally have a couple minutes to write about them. This is the first time I have replaced grips on my R1, so it was a little bit of an adventure. It was an adventure mainly because that bike has had the same grips on it for 8 years!!! They were a little tough to get off, and I ended up having to cut the throttle side grip with a box cutter. Anyway, After the installation, which was an adventure of its own, I found that the throttle was sticking because the grip was touching my bar end slider. I probably could have re-adjusted everything to fit correctly, but I ended up just trimming a little off the end, and that fixed the problem. Now, about the grips. They are great!!! The Driven grips come in two different flavors, Diamond and Grippy grips. I bought the latter, and couldn’t be more pleased. The first thing I noticed is that they are quite soft, and tend to stick to your glove a little. Once I got them on the bike, they had a very nice feel to them. I was not worried about slippage at all, and while riding they seem to take a little bit of the vibration out of the bars, which is nice. I ride a ’99 R1, so as you can imagine, there is definitely a good bit of vibration going through that whole bike. Overall, I would say the for the price (about $17.00) these grips are definitely worth the investment, be it for a street or a trackbike.
