Re: I got well screwed

I'm not sure if this has any revelance, but it would help others (as long as their visa card companies offers the same Protection)

For any purchases over £100 I always use my Visa card as if anything was to go wrong, I can raise a dispute and the company themselves will investigate the matter (I have always come out better off).

I also buy a few things outside eBay e.g. I bought a ECU/Lockset for my 99 MX5. The seller was a member on eBay (although the transaction had nothing to do with eBay) and from looking at his feedback, I assumed after 1,903 Positive responses he must be good enough to trust. Turns out I recieved my parts 48 hours later.

Re: I got well screwed

paypal will stand behind you. I filed a claim against somebody because of a damaged product. I did have to pay for shipping back and prove that it was shipped. I did buy thru ebay. Paypal did refund my original purchase price and original shipping charges. It does suck because people like that make it hard for honest people like me to sell things. makes everybody scared.

Re: I got well screwed

I know some people buy up junked bikes and part them out, but with as many parts, bikes, cars, this guy is selling it looks like a damn chop shop. I'm glad everything got most of the way worked out but DAMN this guy has more parts ads than my local junkyard!

Yeah right, here's what Paypal emailed me when I filed a dispute in this case!!

As long as I recieved "some thing" in a box that's all that matters to paypal

We're unable to decide this claim in your favour at this time. PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy applies to the delivery of goods but not to disputes about merchandise quality.
What happens next
We encourage you to work directly with your seller to resolve this matter.

Re: I got well screwed

A quick search on the Internet will show anyone that unless you use eBay, PayPal will pretty much do nothing for you. There is a reason why eBay bought PayPal; so they could "encourage" people to use it to pay for items on eBay and they make money for both transactions.

What is the difference if Cabbie bought it through eBay or not? If the goods were damaged, they were damaged.

The last time I used paypal I got ripped off for just under a thousand bucks. Paypal certainly were standing right behind me but they were trying to do something that's illegal in many countries in the Middle East. Their response to my being ripped off was the charge me thirty bucks to have a "mediator" bring the buyer and seller together to sort the problem out. Nothing happened and if Paypal could have cared less they probably would have charged me for it. The middle east?
Dude, just about everything "western" is illegal there.
And things we don't like are perfectly legal - like stoning family members to death...

Re: I got well screwed

I've had some frustrations with Paypal, but they were always helpful on the phone. Their people would stay on the line as long as it took to sort out the problem. My problems were of a technical nature though, not regarding a rip off.
