| Re: I want a 1994 blade, UK wrong!
they are chaning the rules to that soon october 08 i beleive.
However I took my test when i was 17, its a restricted licence. (A1)
Basically for the first 2 years you are restricted to a bike of upto 33BHP.
After the 2 years are up, your free to ride anything. unrestricted.
So a 250 would be fine.
However you can get prety much any bike restricted, I had my cb400 restricted. and they make the kits for loads of bikes. even 1300's.
My restriction is up and i want a powerful bike, And don't worry i've illegally ridden faster bikes before so i know what im getting myself in for. |

| Re: I want a 1994 blade, UK So as of October 2008, anyone who has had a motorbike licence for two or more years, regardless of age, can ride any motorbike (providing they can get insurance)? |

| Re: I want a 1994 blade, UK no,
after october 2008, You have to be 19 to take your restricted test, with the 2 year restriction to 33BHP then full power afterwards. Catagory A1 licence.
You will have to be 21 to ride a full power bike. and do a full UNrestricted test. Catagory A licence
However people like me who have already taken their test will be exempt, from these changes. because I already have a full licence.
restricted or not (which I wont be soon)
The insurance companys arn't too bad for me,
Im 19
have 3 years no claims
stepped up from 50cc - 250cc - 400cc - (1000cc)
full bike and car licence
garaged in a safe neighbourhood
also insurance companies are offering cheaper fully comp to younger riders because it gives us a better protection in the event of an accident, as they discovered everyone went for 3rd party fire and theft.

That is almost the same as now then. At 17+, you can have a 33BHP restricted bike and at 21+, you can have any unrestricted bike, although if you pass on a 33BHP/125cc bike, you have to wait two years (and be over 21) before you can ride an unrestricted bike. Don't ask me why, but that's what I was told when I did my direct access. That's cool you are exempt and can have any bike as of October. I didn't know that about fully comp |

| Re: I want a 1994 blade, UK yeah it was interesting when i found out too.
saved me loads on my car insurance.
You've almost got the idea.
At the moment a restricted licence can become unrestricted before your 21 ! , so my restriction is up in april, so i can ride a full power bike as of april.
In october thats when the new harder test and new age limits come in. |

| Re: I want a 1994 blade, UK I am not sure exactly what bike I am after. There are too many to choose from! A 954cc FireBlade sounds a very good option though. What Yamaha are you looking to buy? The Honda CB400 seems a good bike to keep |

| Re: I want a 1994 blade, UK oh either a FZR600, 750, or 1000
or an R6 - I've seen a really nice R6 that i just really must have.
but yesterday I had a look at an old 929 blade, It was nice but was a bit cramped and was an import, (but that dosn't bother me because my 400 is a jap import)
Yeah the 400 is amazing, its got loads of go for a naked bike, keeps up with 600's too, Mines in mint condition, 1995, with loads of extra's and low mileage.
And its been in my family for 12 years. |
