First post 954 MOTOR

all right i have a 02 954 comin home from work other day and it started knocking real bad. Made it home called mech. He looked at it today and said possible crank bearings, crank, rod, pistions, any or all of the above. Wont know for sure untill taken down. I took it by the honda dealer and had them listen just for a second opinion and he said there may be carbon build up on the pistion head and it was hitting the valves. So heres what im looking for any info, maybe a 954 motor, or rebuild. One off the wall can you put the new 1000 motor on a 954 frame???? Thanks.

Re: First post 954 MOTOR

Don't bother with a 1000, totally different motor. Tranny is stacked differently, lean angle is different... and the swingarm mounts off the 954 motor, that would need to be changed. Not worth it.
